Bulk question

First time going bulk with shoe-box and martha tek. I didn't use a liner, however sprayed truck bed liner on the outside of the box to prevent light (and hopefully sidepins), but the sub shrunk and now have side growth. These should be Ecuador but they look varied in color. Is this due to side growth being a different color or are are there some albino mixed in? Process was Spore syringe -> WBS -> bulk (coco coir/verm). Any thoughts?

Do some reading here on side pins. Light has nothing to do with it and any treatment to the outside of the tub does absolutely nothing. It is a tactic that needs to die ASAP. You have an ideal micro-climate between your tub wall and sub. Real liner is the only way to fix unless surface conditions are even better than side conditions.

Wow truck bed liner costs like 5 times more than just regular spray paint atleast 5 times more. Also this is outdated info. Blocking light doesn't prevent side pins. One last thing that white fruit doesn't look like cubensis at all. Does it bruise blue? I wouldn't eat it unless you can confirm looks like a contamination of another species mushroom.

YEah there is no veil on it. I think that you might have some competing mycellium in there. It is really hard to tell, but if it doesn't bruise, the spores are a different color and the veil in not attached to the skin you might have something else growing in your sub. It is hard to tell from the pictures but it looks like 3 hiding out.

Picture update: Those in the top image of this post now look like this:

They definitely bruise blue:

The other end of the substrate have these coming in:

I potentially mixed up the tub label with golden teacher, so they may not be EC after all.

Those are two different kind of mushrooms. They almost look like C. Cyane (or wavy caps)or something similar. Don’t take my works on it I’m still a noob I’m interested to find out what’s going on here for sure myself!

Fascinating, I always wondered if this could work out. I've tried inoculating grains with two types of LCs in hope of results along these lines

Updating with some spore prints of the white shrooms. They bruise blue, but am unsure of the race. I've only worked with Ecuador, B+, and Golden Teacher. Not sure what the white ones are....

What are you trying to grow? Looks like your cubes might have gotten contaminated with cyans, or vice versa. Either that or those are some funky looking golden teachers.

Could these all be Golden teachers? Where some are leucistic and some normal? Here's an update of the other end of the substrate (match to image above):

These look like all GT? It's likely that I mixed up the bin labels and these are GT, however the white ones threw me for a loop. I'm a n00b, apologies in advance...

The difference in these with other white ones is the veil on these.... looked like there’s no veil on the white ones which is more like a cyan

I just plucked the white ones. There is some evidence of a veil, but not much...

Could these be golden teachers?
