Noob pin question...

So I got me some cakes in my sgfc, i think everything is looking good but I would like some reassurance. I got some bluing going on in a couple. I don’t really pick them up either so unless I’m over or under misting Idk how I could have bruised them. I mist 3 times a day but not super heavy. Some of the small pins have cracks in head too. Is that normal for new pins? I’ve attached pics. Like most newbs I’m super excited and also over protective of them

Not looking too bad. In these pics I couldn't find any cracked caps- and only found a tiny spot of bruising (although I haven't had my coffee...). Cakes do look a little dry. Your SGFC can be your enemy sometimes. Increase your misting a bit if you want. How deep is the layer of perlite int he bottom? I hate a SGFC honestly. but they work a lot better with a thick layer (like 4") of perlite. If you have issues with your cakes drying out, you can as a temp fix tape up some of those holes. Fan or just crack the lid for FAE every few hours or as often as you can (you do need more fresh air exchange, hence fuzzy mycelial growth at the base of a few of those stems). Get some agar and clone a good fruit from a good cluster- a couple of those cakes are showing signs of bacteria which won't top you from getting fruits but will lower yields and lead to mutations- which going to agar first will solve)-and ditch that SGFC. Even if you stick with cakes for now, getting over the fear threshold and crumbling them into coir and making shoeboxes or tubs will really help cut down on the caretaking and keep you better supplied with fruits, Cudos on your first grow by the way! Doesn't it feel great to have some peens?

I have about 3 inches of perlite. I might add more...or just mist more lol yea I’m super pumped about this grow! I actually plan on trying shoeboxes next time because they seem more simple. After I posted this I misted the crap out of my cakes. I found a post about bluing that can be caused from being too dry. Thanks for the help!!!

No problem. I second that about shoeboxes. A buck a box and you just flip the lid over when it's time to fruit. Sooooo much easier. Best of luck.

I added another bag of perlite and rewetted it in the shower. I’m getting really tiny fruits. The veil is breaking when they are still itty bitty. I’m growing Cambodian and gt. I know small fruits can be genetic but can it also be due to the fc or hydration? I’m going to dunk them all soon when I can harvest the rest that have popped up. Hopefully my second flush shrooms are a bit bigger lol I’ve attached some photos of my baby fruits in the dehydrator and pics of my fc setup. Let me know if you guys have any advice. I’ve been reading these forums like crazy

Cakes can sometimes produce big fruits because cakes come from MS or LC its a roll of the dice. It has been said that Small shrooms also can be way more potent.
