I finally got in a wreck with my steel plate bumper! 2

So, I got a steel plate bumper about 4 years ago with a tax return and a few people made jokes about it "hey what are you doing with your zombie bumper?" "you a prepper?" "lol that shit's dumb."
Well here's my bumper.

Here's the other car:

Mine definitely won.
It wasn't a huge impact- 25mph, he cut in front of me, he was parked then decided to enter my lane of traffic and I was doing the speed limit in my lane. He was a dick about it though but his insurance apologized and covered it 100%.
I'm upgrading my entire suspension with the pay-out. They gave me enough to cover the parts I have plus labor. I'm using the labor to upgrade the entire suspension to a stronger suspension. Figure it's far more honest than pocketing it.

Nice, hell yeah that bumper saved a lot damage from happening to your vehicle
I've been kicking around the idea of getting a bull bar for my pickup truck

In all honesty it wasnt really a fair fight to begin with. Even without the metal bars
Years ago I backed into a tree with my dads old Volvo. Poor tree, car had not a scratch

I am snagging a long-travel suspension for her.
Check these new shocks out.

The truck looks great and rubs nicely against my personal fondness for Nissan. Looks like a fun upgrade!

Kinda like a gun nut "finally got to use my 500 magnum revolver in a self defense situation!"
But good purchase, looks badass, it has utility value and saved you a bunch of money.
Sometimes you get the right impulses in time that save you trouble later on.
A few years ago my spirit guide asked me out of the blue to get Hepatitis A+B and Diphtheria/Tetanus/Pertussitus vaccine. I asked why. "You'll need it at a time there is reduced access to hospital facilities."
uh ok.
2019, October: "Beef up your prep with the following items, a great epidemic is coming."
uh, ok.
2020.. Covid.
I cranked the air raid siren way early here on the Shroomery, making a big deal of Covid and everyone who listened had their store run a few weeks before everyone ran to the stores for toilet paper.
Covid at its peak and I fall square off my bike headfirst into the pavement, turning my face forehead to chin into a bruised bloody mess. Not stitchable, mashed. Doctor comes, worried, "I'm out of Tetanus shots but I don't want to send you to the ER because the hospital is overflowing with Covid and you're a risk patient." "It just so happened I had my DTP renewed recently while getting Hep A+B too." "OK that's covered then, I'll desinfect and you can let it heal naturally."
And so it did.
Spirit Guide: "Naaa? Didn't I tell you?"
"I'm going to trade you in for a Spirit Guide who doesnt let me fall on my face in the first place."

I've never been in a car accident with over 500,000 miles driven
Well, I guess that's not entirely true - once someone rear-ended me when I was just sitting stopped at red light in Idaho... they were going about 5 miles an hour while I was driving my friends car. But that almost doesn't count They were driving like a 70,000$ Mercedes and I was driving my friends Jeep which had a towing hitch, the towing hitch poked a perfect square hole in his hood as he just ran right into my stopped vehicle.
I've narrowly avoided other people causing accidents and facilitated saving other cars a good few times though.

My jeep was very similar. Not an after market bumper, but still pretty solid. I had gotten hit a few times. It's annoying, but the other car always had the worse of it. I once hit a fire hydrant and ripped hydrant out the ground. It bent my bumper and smashed my tierod to the front differential. Funny thing is it only took a few screws and an alignment to fix. Found another bumper for 50$ on Craigslist. Bottom line, jeeps are pretty solid!

lol I kinda see where you're coming from the only difference is that I didn't aim my car at the idiot- I managed to get it all on CCTV footage and there's about a 0% chance of me being able to avoid him in the accident.
The only reason I'm happy about this accident is because it didn't total my vehicle- this is probably a 1 in 1,000 chance of happening. Every other accident I've been in has had a negative outcome- examples would be I have to front the bill for damage, the vehicle is totaled or disabled, etc. So it makes the situation kind of a instead of a moment

Imagine you sustained a horrible whiplash injury or other spinal/brain problem by the crash.
Traffic is quite dangerous!

For sure- I try to avoid accidents as much as I humanly can. The last thing I want is to total this vehicle. I've spent 6 years building it into my ultimate camping rig.
