Finally, Jeff could probably pay all of this lowest income earners 10k more a year and it would greatly benefit their lives, while it wouldn't make a shit of a difference to the company or him.

I never said rich people shouldn't pay taxes, they should not only pay taxes, they should pay disproportionately more. Not just by dollar value but also by percent of their income. One argument Rich people love to use to trick poor people into feeling bad is by stating the dollar value they pay, when in reality they have way more usable income than a poor person ever would.

Personal trainers are a luxury and not at all required to be healthy.

The USDA suggests that a thrifty family of 4 can eat on $145 a week.

You could do that without any processed foods or sugar.

You’re right, a personal trainer is a luxury. One that greatly increases your likelihood of being healthy and is only affordable for relatively high income earners.

Now we getting somewhere.

It’s apparent you’re confused about the realities wealth and health. That’s where, and Bezos could get off his fat sack of change and help out a lot of people. Something like 1% of Americans could live a better life if he was just slightly less of a piece of shit.

So you bring up my original question in the thread.

Why do wealthy people have additional moral responsibility placed on their shoulders to help others that is not placed on people with less wealth?

I think he should be required to reward his employees commensurately by law. Meaning mandatory increases in wage based on wealth generation after a certain threshold. Bezo’s morality need not apply.

Those are called shareholders. And lots of Amazon employees are also shareholders.

Employees don't generally sit at the profit sharing table otherwise.

And it isn't his own morality. It is the moral responsibility projected onto him that I'm asking about. The assumption that he should do certain things only because he has so much.

Why is this even a question? If you're driving and see a hitchhiker, do you go "Damn isn't there someone who can walk with him to where he's going?" I don't understand why this has been a question asked repeatedly. It takes two seconds to look at one dude's pile of shit and see it's insurmountable larger than most everyone else's. It's not rocket science to see if one has more than they need then they technically have the ability to help those with less. Moral responsibility begins with capability. If I have 130 billion dollars I would be pretty damn capable to help whoever. You're literally asking people to explain wealth inequality and empathy

"Hey guy you won't even miss a million dollars, my mom is a philanthropist but she's poor and can't afford her medical bills. Can you help."

*sneezes a million dollars*

I'm not culpable because I made this! I'm not outside my means because I want it! Your mother should have been someone else when she was born! If she was just an asshole billionaire this wouldn't have happened! Selfishness keeps us alive and society turning it's gears!

Thanks for asking the question.

Having the ability to help does not mean one should be morally obligated. How many times have you passed someone on the street against which your pile of shit is the huge pile? And could you have done more for that person than you did? And should that person with the smaller pile of shit be able to determine the width and breath of your help or kickdowns?

Fak no.

if I hand a homeless guy $100, I’ll be worse off. If Bezos gives him $100,000,000, his life won’t change.

So it is ok to arbitrarily determine how much of their own wealth that wealthy people get to keep?
