lol I just read the last few pages and wanna keep tabs on this... so heres my 2 cents
brands matter. not all oats are created equal. check out these two bags, same price $14...

grainland
sweet grass

grainland is clearly full of bullshit... sticks, rocks, corn, bugs, etc. The triple cleaned equine oats are intended for race horses, so the quality is always there.

Triple Crown is another good brand of race horse oats, you can get em mailed too cause Triple Crown updated their supply chain, although they are in less stores now

I've been getting Producers Pride. It looks to be the same quality as Grainland.

I haven't used oats in a long while. Might give them another try someday but i really like wheat.
On the subject of "humble bragging", No one with ten thousand posts wants to make all ten thousand of them multiple paragraph explanations. I did a shitload of reading through TC posts when i was trying to get all this figured and was super stoked to find the nicely detailed ones specifically because they were rare. I make it a point to try and explain things nicely when i reply but i'm still a young TC and we'll see how long i last.
I don't see why you'd really feel the need to criticize a TC for making a simple statement. Why not just ask a question? It seems like, "hey lotkid, how do you pull off making that much grain in that amount of time" would be a lot more productive post.
Any who, we'll all see lotkid tomorrow and maybe we'll just get along and farm rainbows.

I wonder if it's a regional thing for the quality discrepancy. I think I've found a small stick once or twice but thats out of who knows how many 50 lb bags

Same. I just leave all that shit in there. Beans, corn, black seeds etc.

I've been leaving it in there too. I did a few practice runs using 1 jar at a time and was super picky about getting all the junk out post PC. This became unrealistic when doing 10 jars or more at a time. Now, I just take out the sticks when I see them and only remove the floaters.

I let my sticks and floaters stay. Working on getting some bags of milo. Seems like a solid choice at $0.46/lb.

You think it will perform better than oats? I've found pieces of milo in my oats too but before that, I've never even seen em before. Everybody talks so good about rye that I'll likely he trying some out soon.

Different grains will vary in prices depending on where you are. Wheat has a similar prep to rye and is usually cheaper for most people

I also get triple washed race horse oats. Have only had one issue in years that i had to adjust my boil time down 5 minutes recently. Which for me is a plus. The brand i have is called equine choice premium..
