tums for pH
    #2648495 - 05/07/04 12:55 AM (13 years, 4 months ago)

Can tums be used to balance the pH of a casing layer? They definitely reduce acidity, however I just wondered if the other inactive ingredients would be ok such as elemental calcium, corn starch, flavor, mineral oil, sodium phostphate, sucrose, talc?

exactly, the sucrose, starch, and mineral oil would all probably be a haven for contams. Buy some some oyster shell, or lime. It's cheap and easy to get.
