This guy seems pretty with it.
The whole talk is really, really good, but the subject line part starts at 19:28.
Another thing, at 8:02 he explains that our consciousness is arising and passing away and arising again very, very quickly. He snaps his fingers and says that was about 100,000 'ear consciousnesses', and if you get good at meditating you will see this birth/death/rebirth happening for yourself.
That's the first time Ive heard that. I would like to see that for myself, sounds really great, and bizarre from where I am. Am I to understand that my mind/consciouness is blinking on and off and on again a million times a second or something?
Hmm

I'll have to check out the video later but my first thought was that it sounds similar to how they say we are vibrating at a certain frequency...

Right, because according to Abhidharma philosophy/psychology there is no consistent coherent self but rather a continual arising of the ahamkara (I-sense) from a stream of consciousness. So we are like a series of 'mind-moments' arising and passing like so many still frames on a movie film that gives the impression of motion.
Consider the dream-ego that arises in each dream. That dream-ego is brand new in every dream you have, even if you have multiple dreams in one night. The dream-ego that arises in consecutive dreams does not look around and independently think "wow, this is a totally different dream-scape than the earlier one tonight or one I had last week." That dream-ego did not exist earlier in the night OR last week. It has no memory, no continuity, no ties to the physical body which it is a facsimile of, AND it is totally deluded. So when I've been pursued by Godzilla in a dream, my dream-ego cannot reason that there is no such thing as a 400 foot tall Godzilla or that the dream is illusory. It registers fear.
Our waking-ego[s], according to Abhidharma is not much different in nature from the dream-ego[s]. Part of our unawakened predicament is that even though we may remember being in nursery school, elementary school, junior high/middle or high school, college aged, young adult, middle aged and senior aged, we think we're the same entity throughout our life-span, this is an illusion down to the micro level wherein every cell in our body has arisen, lived, died, and been replaced. Yet, it still feels like we're the same person we were at every year, every hour, minute, second, only with new experiences under our belt (we've changed our belt several times also ). If you replaced every single part of your car - every nut and bolt - engine, transmission, seats, outer panels, everything, would it still be the same car? In appearance perhaps, but not in actuality. This is the illusoriness of samsara.
The memories we have help create the sense of coherent selfhood. But I am not the nursery school kid that had my name and identity. He has long ago transitioned into a kindergarten kid and so on. Now I am not sufficiently wise to Know if this is in fact the psychology or the metaphysics operating or just a kind of quantum level of consciousness which does not define the everyday perception of who and what we are any more than quantum mechanics defines common sense reality. There may be nothing solid at the quantum level, but if I fall off a cliff the velocity of my body, inter-atomic spaces and all is going to meet the ground with its inter-atomic spaces at 32 feet per second per second and I'm going to be squashed to death. No illusion there. I still speak of myself as a person, as a living soul, but soul is not a thing, it is a linguistic convention.

This is a difficult teaching.
I kind of like that there have been some of these scientific discoveries with quantum mechanics and relativity that show us that our perceptions and intuitions about the way things really work fundamentally is completely wrong, and impossible to visualize. Gives me some faith that maybe I don't exist after all.
Or whatever this all means.
Who is the grand illusionist, making all this consciousness believe it's people? What the hell is going on? Who built this thing then? What's the big idea?

EVERYTHING vibrates and everything is electric....the idea of the brain being like a radio is intersting. maybe we all have our own station but can tap into others like psychics do or maybe even mental illness can do and of course our "helpers" can change the station as well...who knows does sound interesting tho

Digging this thread
The whole concept also ties in nicely with a holographic universe, but that’s a whole nother story I guess.
