Growth seems to have stopped. Is there any saving this?
    #26484273 - 02/13/20 07:31 PM (3 years, 11 months ago)

Initially, there were tons of pins and new growth every day. Now, most pins stopped growing (going on over a week now) and what was growing is becoming incredibly fluffy/stunted. There are a few stems turning yellow. Yes, I know its been overwatered. Been trying to give it lots of air and dry it out a bit but no luck so far. Any advice?

I’m new but does it look really wet to anyone else? Maybe that’s the case.

I was also overwatering my tub which will stunt growth and cause pins to abort. What is your substrate?

Let it dry out as it is soaked. Also the mycelium on the stalks indicate that more FAE is needed.

What on the stalks indicates it needs more FAE?

Straw substrate. Should I put a fan near it?

I see a lot of people advise against using fans but in your specific case it may be a good idea to get some air moving around.

Oh ok, thanks. Normally it’s more wispy? Less velcro looking.

I'm kind of thinking the same thing.. hoping the fruiting can recover from this but I guess time will tell.

Mushroom stems should not have mycelium growing on them.

Too much moisture / not enough FAE causes it.

So, moisture content is more or less back to how it should be... Still keeping RH up, fanning often. There has been zero growth for days. Still doing 12/12 with a 6500k led. What can I expect here? There is a ton of substrate left (viable I hope).. am I going to get more mushrooms or am I screwed?

Actually, there has been no growth for well over a week. I've only got about 5, stunted mushrooms so far. Many pins aborting or not growing, some at pin stage for 3 weeks now.. Need some help!

Hate to say it but you probably have some small chance if you can just leave it be and let it get some air. There is a high probability that you might have some contamination brewing because of how soaked it is. Tell us more about your fruiting chamber and we might be able to help. Is it in a mono or shoebox? Is it in one of those silly growkit Chambers? Do you have a heat source under it?( Cause you don't want that) we really need more facts than it won't grow to help you on this one.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, silly chamber unfortunately. Made a mono but that is for oysters right now. Here are some photos. I've been giving it lots of fresh air and fanning, and the moisture looks a lot better than it was one my first post. I've been spraying the side walls, but not the casing for the last 3-4 days. Straw substrate. Around 22C temp. I just don't know what to do with it anymore to encourage growth. The few that are there haven't grown in quite some time, and the fuzzy feet haven't changed in size.

That's soaked. I'd pull out that poly. Shrooms need air.

I'm not sure how I could possibly pull the poly out without making a huge mess of the casing? Also, wouldn't contamination be an issue if I did that?

Hell just take the lid off for 12 hrs.  I agree with Mushboys, but what is your humidity in your house? Usually most places with climate control sit around 40%.
It should dry out quick if that is the case. Also what is the casing layer?

He means the stuff blocking your air exchange in the lid, just take the lid off and fruit it in open air.

Oh, the polyfil. Done.  Well, I already did leave the lid off for 12 hours the other day, and it dried substantially, but it also bruised one of mushrooms (not that they were growing much anyway) and partially dried the mushrooms. I live in an arid climate, and hygrometer reads 23% ambient temp outside of the chamber.

So for a couple of days take the lid off for 12 hrs and don't mist. You can tell when your casing starts to dry.

Should I pick the few hurting mushrooms before they dry out? Thanks for the input, I appreciate it!

That's your call. If the caps start to turn, then then have aborted. I would wait a day.
