Half Colonized Grow Bag

Hello, I think I jumped the gun and mixed the substrate way too soon in my all-in-one grow bag. The top half looks awesome, but the bottom isn't doing much. The top has been at a standstill for about a week now and I'm not sure if I should remove the top and try to fruit it or just wait it out.

A week after I mixed it, marble-sized chunks started to appear at the top of the bag. I eventually remixed them, which I heard wasn't a good idea. It did the same thing after mixing, but the chunks eventually turned into a single mass.
Could you please offer suggestions on what to do next?
*As an additional note, the bag is heated with a seeding mat under the tote it is in. There is a towel between the mat and the tote and the bag is on a wire rack to keep it off the bottom. The temp is normally between 80-83 at the bottom of the wire rack.
Thanks in advance.

Heat sucks for colonization. The bag honestly looks stressed out. You can try and fruit it by cutting the top off. You can move it to room temps and hope it fights that bacterial infection at the bottom. Heat Mats are outdated unless your living in the north pole. This one is really a roll of the dice, everything in that bag looks over hydrated. Did you make it or is it from a grow kit?

Did you buy this as a premade spawn bag, or did you prep it yourself?

Damn, I thought that was the mycelium. This is my 2nd attempt at growing. The first was a complete failure. That tan color is a reflection of the table it is on. normally it just looks like the substrate.
I just purchased a premade bag. My house is fairly cold (avg 68) and I read to keep temps around 80. would it have any problem growing around 68?
Thank you all for the quick advice.

I think it would manage around 68 just slowly. There is a lot of outdated and just blatantly wrong information out there. Look up Bodhistta and click on his learn everything link, or what ever it is called. BUt it is the most current and accurate source of knowledge anyone has put together on this or any other site.
Actually I found it for you. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/24144021

Dont use premade stuff since it can be hard to debug, because it can be hard to tell if they did something wrong or if you did
It's fairly easy to prep your own spawn, I recommend bods oat tek, easy as it gets
Also, you'll be fine at 68, few degrees more would be a bit quicker, but cubes love to fruit. I wouldnt be going anywhere near the temps you are talking about, especially starting from spores (since potential bacteria will benefit more from those temps than the myc will)

You should have no problem at 68 degrees, no need for heating mats for cubes, gonna cause more harm than good
Or just keep your thermostat at 70-74, or use a space heater to keep it in the same range

Thanks again for all the advice. I removed the mats and separated the top and bottom. When I opened the bag it had a mushroom smell, so I take that as a good sign. In a new tote, I placed vermiculite mixed with a bit of distilled water and placed foil over it. Then placed the brick on top. After that, I lightly sprayed the brick and walls with distilled water. Temps are reading ~70 with 82% humidity. I'll post again in a few days with updates.
I'm definitely seeing the issues with premade bags. Since this is my first go at it, I wanted it to be as easy as possible. turned out to be a pain in the dick. Making mistakes is the best way to learn though. I'll be ready in the spring when temps aren't as much of an issue for my house.
Sockadin, that link is outstanding! I have a lot to learn.

I think many of us can relate! Lots of people had to learn the premade stuff lesson the hard way, including myself
Seems like it would simplify things, but it really just slows down your progress and makes it difficult to debug
If you are attempting to fruit that (I'd honestly start over asap) you'd be better off using a SGFC and perlite rather than vermiculite
But it isnt even completely colonized, so I wouldn't even bother. I mean its possible you'll get a couple of fruits, but guaranteed youll get contams (which it looks like you already have)
Follow bods guides and you'll be golden I'm no time. Or even start with the old standard PF tek. But I recommend just starting with monotubs, since it is actually be less work to grow a fuckton of shrooms than to grow a few with other methods

I meant perlite. I've been reading a lot and got mixed up.
Yeah, I need to purchase a pressure cooker and completely start over. But we'll see if anything happens with this experiment.
If I am able to fruit that with it being contaminated, would it be safe to consume? I'm under the assumption that contams only prevent growth.

Probably.. but I would go ahead and start from scratch, so by the time you know for sure that kit isnt going to work, you are at least part of the way to a successful grow

Either way start from scratch! Shit it’s good to constantly start new agar, jars or bags. That way when something finishes you always have something lined up behind it. Or god forbid something goes bad you have stuff going already like C10 stated.

--Update-- My sick-brick actually fruited with better than expected results:
 (shitty photo through the tub)

Recently I've dunked the brick and the 2nd flush has started to come in strong. Thanks for everyone's advice!
