LOVE DAY 1
#26483312 - 02/13/20 09:03 AM (4 years, 4 days ago) |

Hello people! I knnow there is a lot of break ups and what not going on, but I'm making this thread anyway. We (me and the huzbear) don't make it a point to buy gifts and/or cards (luckily we agree on this, from the beginning 5 years ago) for V day. BUT, we do like to have a dinner, got a rez at 5:30, then we meet our other married couple friends out for fun and frivolity. Anyone have plans or make it a point to? It is a ridiculous "holiday". I love the candy boxes on sale after actually, lol.

We don't have any married couple friends and restaurants are always packed so we usually plan a cozy night in together. That's if we remember My plan is to change the bedding, go to bed early and give each other backrubs. I love getting valentines chocolates on sale too haha.

I kinda drove myself into a corner with V day. Started a “tradition” of gifting exponentially bigger stuffed animals each year. Last year’s panda was almost life-size. This year, I found this stuffed dog that doebles as a bean-bag chair, but we’ll have to throw out a piece of furniture to keep it in the house lol....
Maybe a nice bouquet of flowers this year...
Candy sales are ok but nothing like after Halloween. Gotta love all that dank Russel Stower chocolate though

wow. no offense intended, but rather perspective. that seems bizarre to me. some like jelly and some like gold. i guess I got me a simple woman. happy with me being nice. i bought her a vinyl album that she has been streaming non-stop.
You ought to check this album out Feed the Dog / Tenderloin.
Cheers everyone.

Haha non-taken, I know I’m a weirdo! It just feels like if I stop doing ridiculous stupid shit for love, that’s the start of the end...does that make any sense?

It does. I know the feeling.
But if you have a good partner, and are kind, a small token of affection is fine imo. You may, as you said, be building expectations that you can not meet in the future (without buying a storage unit).
We all are weird. That's okay.
I love this one: Better a dry crust with peace and quiet than a house full of feasting, with strife.
It's all good. You do you. You know your partner. I was just shocked a bit.
Please excuse my prude nature.

You got nothing to be sorry for - I appreciate your advice.
Think I’m gonna go for flowers+breakfast in bed or some other cliche this year. If I’m being honest, the wife has been saying I’m a dummy for keeping the “tradition” going for like 3 V days now🤷🏻♂️. But I also notice how she lights up when presented with plush giants, so I just keep doing it...not a sustainable strategy, for sure

Don't ever say the words "outta my league" again! You never know, be yourself, but also be cordial, I'm sure you are, no doubt. Your posts are always nice. Enjoy the night!

The things are 'cliche' for a reason. Doesn't mean they are bad.
I get lazy rubbing down my partner. Nice to have days to remind you to just be kind and generous with your lover. A back rub is worth a 1000 dollars at least. 20 stuffed animals.
Breakfast in bed sounds perfect. Cheers!!

A smaller stuffed toy they can put in their car or on a desk etc... might be cool, they will think of you when they look at it.

Our almost 3 year old turned into a snot rocket last night, which botches any grand plans (mind you, grand plans with a healthy toddler are still rather tame ). But I did score a cool book that I noticed she was enthralled with on a recent visit to a curated garden library. Also strawberries, cause they were surprisingly sweet for not being in peak season when we bought a pack last week, so I doubled down with two more. Then I noticed Whole Foods/Amazon Prime Now was discounting dark chocolate covered strawberries, so I tripled down and got some of those two.
I'm sure we'll cook together and hang around the house, maybe do some gardening in the yard, a hike up the hill with the kiddo on one of our backs. Hoping neither of us start feeling sick tomorrow. As the little one goes, the adults are usually soon to follow.

Awww, so sweet! And congrats on the kid! You're a much braver soul than I. You're right about the kids getting the adults sick, lol. Cooking together and hanging around the house is what we do mostly these days, although we still dabble/party a bit, it is not nearly what I or he used to do, lol.
Happy love day everyone!
