I did! Went there many times camping or renting some house nearby, and it is amazing for it. Many waterfalls and amazing landscape.
Here are some pics:

Wow, beautiful landscape. I've only been once to Brazil, that was in the thickest of downtown Sao Paulo. Would love to get into more rural areas some time. Roughly which part of the country are you in?

I have to confess that your pictures are making me envious, just gorgeous.
I always visit the rural areas on vacation, I like to see how the locals live and not the tourist crap.

I had to nominate the first basket picture for pic of the month.

I usually do too, although I was in Sao Paulo for less than three days, working all the time, before I had to return to Europe.
Next time I'll make sure to get a few days extra to get around, hopefully I'll get around a bit and maybe also over to Argentina.

Can I ask you where in the world you are now? I ended up back where I started, my hometown, but traveling to other countries is one of the highlights of my life so far. It's a shame that everyone in the world doesn't have the opportunity to get out and see how others live, it would make the world a better place in my opinion.

Im from Brazil from that area but now I live in northeast Spain. I used to pick cubensis for many years there, so many memories. I started when I was 16 years old, would go camping with good friends, and having such amazing experiences. We'd wake up early morning during picking season (nov-march), each go in a different direction, pick hundreds of shrooms, go back to the camping and make a massive tea with it all. Then we'd either just hang out in the camping smoking weed and laughing for hours, or go to the waterfalls enjoy it. Now thinking back we were pretty reckless, drinking huge unweighed amounts, being in nature mostly with no sitters. Thank god it all worked out, only some difficult experiences here and there (like rainy days with tents getting wet, or some bad company sometimes, etc), but all good overall. I certainly learned a lot.
I know there are semilanceatas growing not too far from here where I live in Spain but I never saw them myself, I wouldnt trust myself to id them and dont know anybody here that does.
And you're absolutely right, travelling and seeing other cultures and ways of life is an essential experience to have, it can be as eye opening as a psychedelic experience since it brings you to have another perspective outside your usual reality tunnel, and realize many other possibilities of how to think and live.
What were some of the coolest places you visited?

I can't see that P. semilanceata is supposed to occur in Spain, but it probably depends on climate and your actual whereabouts. Perhaps you can find P. hispanica and/or P. gallaeciae nearby as well.

Ps. azurescens have been found in either Portugal or Spain, I would keep an eye out for them.

It was Portugal, close to Sintra. The guy who found them posted about it on here not too long ago. I'm not sure that it is indigenous to Portugal though, might be a chance find and/or an escaped cultivar. The verdict is still up.

that's why I say it's worth it to look, never will know by staying home. After finding tampanensis I look in all habitats investigating anything and everything fungi.
I firmly believe that distribution ranges are wider than expected. The more people that are looking the more we will discover and the internet has really opened up the hobby. 20-30 years ago no one would have ever thought about weilii in Georgia or ovoidiocystidiata. In the Southeast U.S. Psilocybe cubensis and Panaeolus cyanescens were the only known active mushrooms to the majority of people looking for mushrooms and most only knew about cubensis, but the internet has made so much information available that more people are being educated.
I find mycology so much more exciting today with all the resources that are available at the touch of a button. Being able to use my phone as a computer, camera and notebook in the field has made it so much easier for me to get out and participate in a manner that is beneficial not only to me but others as well.

Thanks for the tips on possible local shrooms, I will take a look at where they have been found exactly. Im in northeast Spain near the pyrenees mountains, im positive semilanceata has been found not too far from me.. If I never get to meet an experienced identifier here, but I do look myself, I will be sure to post many detailed pictures in this subforum, I certainly wont be risking myself with tentative ID's.
