White elf substrate mix

Hey guys! I'm about to grow White elf, Pleurotus ferula.
I've found this sub mix and wondered what to use: 75% hardwood, mixed fine + course 10% cereals 5% oil seeds 10% bran
I was thinking the following: 75% Oak wood 10% Rye grain (powder or whole) 5% Sunflower seeds 10% wheatbran
Any ideas for something better?

That's funny I googled the species and found the exact recipe you did. Doesn't seem to be a very commons "species" (strain?) other than the folks that made it.
Anyway I don't know much about their novel strain, but they seem to have that substrate dialed in. I'd give it a shot to see.
If I were going to treat it like any other oyster I'd question what's the point in supplementing with bran but only 10% - if you're gonna have to sterilize anyway why not go more? I dunno that's my thoughts though

Nebro. Requires large amounts of calcium. I would think it would be beneficial in your grow. Even for my kings I use gypsum and calcium carbonate.

I've heard of no one growing it where i'm from and i certanly can't buy it anywhere here either. From what i can find, it pretty different both in taste and texture from regular oysters. Seeems like it needs the extra nutes i guess
I have it on rye now, and it's clearly an oyster it's very aggressive. I will be inocculating bags next week with this recipe and let you know how it goes

Yeah i always add about 5-10% calcium sulfate to the mix, i just dont count it as a part of the sub mix.

I wonder if you could use hemp seeds as the oil seeds, or it should be sunflower or maybe rapeseed.

Looking forward to seeing how you do with these! I remember hearing the species discussed a while back, but had forgotten about it.

I did some bags of sawdust and wheatbran for Lion's mane and took one of those and inoculated it with white elf, so lets see how it does on that kind og sub in the first place. Just for fun.

I think it likes lime (CaCO3), wouldnt that be better than gypsum? Might not just be about the calcium but also pH.
I have tried to get nebro for a long time and a friend grew out some cultures i managed to get but seemed they were 'fake' and just some variety of regular eryngii.
But I should have a proper one now. I plan to use it for brewing an entirely new kind of beverage.

I don't know about the pH acutally. I haven't found anything that said pH adjustment was necesarry, not yet anyway.
It's growing great on the sawdust/wheatbran mix so far.
Do you have a pic of your culture on agar? Sounds awesome with the new drink!
