Do you have dinner at the family table, or do you watch TV at dinner?
    #26481324 - 02/12/20 01:40 AM (3 years, 11 months ago)

I was talking to my mum and she brought up that she didn't want to be like her parents, in hour they raised her. Her dad yelled at her mom most nights because the food wasn't just right or good enough. My grandparents were traditional with a working man, and an at home wife, meals made when he gets home etc.

We were allowed to watch TV at dinner time, sometimes on special occasions it was nice to have a family dinner, but I personally didn't want to do that each night. I was happy watching TV as a kid and eating food. Me and my family watched TV together sometimes.

Eventually I got a TV in my own room that I found on the street from a council run day of old furniture disposal.
And then the internet came along and with my own laptop and modern internet wherein I almost always had dinner on my own, even when it was made for me.
For dinner I am;
You may choose only one

have not had a tv for 15 years,
we sit at table or on couch and eat one pot meals together, talking (75%), or
separately blog away (25%),
later reading, then
later Netflix or other in bed.

the kids moved out and do their own thing.

hardly go out to eat due to wife's anaphylaxic food allergies.

Family dinner once a week where everyone comes together and eats a feast. A weekly Thanksgiving as it were.

The rest of the week it's a crap shoot. Depends on the time available and the meal eaten. Like RGV we eat a lot of 1 pot meals and usually enjoy cooking them together. Then we eat together but often with a youtube video or something going.

2 person dinners with nothing but food and drink are good as a date type setting
but they lose magic and meaning when done every day, entertainment replaces that loss

that was a touch poll because every night is different, and it's not a traditional house here, so all of the options applied.

I think uhhh thise poll got some issues.

Single men like myself...... I mean....

SPECTACULAR and AMAZING AVAILABLE men like myself dont have a girl to sit and eat / watch a movie with nor live with our parents. So of course we gonna either eat in silence (which albeit is psychotic) or pull some youtube/ netflix up while we eat. So we gonna mostly all say "watch movie and eat".

I would PREFER..... though..... i am very happy just having me time (im not really. please beautiful women come find me and love me forever and ever) to watch a show or movie with someone while I eat.

I don't have TV service or watch it. I just eat. Comments are occasionally made.
