What's best?
Seen lots of teks for no pour but no recent ones for a pour tek?
Is pouring outdated now or what?

Pouring polystyrene petris in a flowhood is clearly the better method. No pours will always have some kind of condensation and less visibility. Does that matter to you? It might not be a big deal to you but it is at least marginally better to be able to get a crystal clear look at the mycelium without having to open a lid. The point of agar is a 2d growing surface that you can visually select growth from. You might open a no pour and the mycelium suddenly doesn't quite look like you thought it did from the outside. It could be an annoyance.

I'm learning both have a place!
Start a lot of no-poors and transfer into Petri dishes for the "final"-ists!

No-pour can be completely clear glass, with no condensation.

Exactly what sandman said
-------------------- But if you're in a hurry, and really got to go If you're in a hurry, might have to find out slow That it's one thing to try and another to fly You get there quicker just a step at a time It's one thing to bark, another to bite The show ain't over till you pack up at night

Is pouring your own plates more likely to contam or something? I only have a SAB not a flowhood.
To me it sounds easier to pour than pc'ing plates in a jar/tin and then waiting for condensation to disapear?

You can pour plates fine in SAB. No pours are harder to fuck up, but most people end up pouring their plated after doing this hobby long enough.

Idk, I like the simplicity of my pasty plates. I sterilize a couple dozen and, whenever I need some I KNOW for a fact they’re sterile and ready to go. I feel like I’d fuck up at least 1 in 10/20 plates when pouring. Visibility isn’t a problem cause they’re clear, and I don’t get condensation anymore, but I gotta admit - prepping them is tedious.
If I had a FH I’d definitely switch to petris though.

I pour plates, first time was a little sketchy, but no contams. Second time was smooth.
Still battling condensation, but that would likely be an issue for me with no pour too.

Yea equipment makes a big difference. Personally I was never able to successfully pour plates in a SAB so I made no pours back then. I hear some of you guys are pouring plates in SAB no problem though. IMO you are way better off making no pours if you just have a SAB and are trying to keep it simple.

I think my problem with pouring in a box was just the room having too much airflow because of central air.

Well, you can shut that off, wait 10-15 minutes, perform SAB work, and turn it back on again.
