What the max temp the CPU can handle?

Are you using silver thermal paste?

Mine is sort of brown grey color

CPUs can handle up to 90 C from what I know

That reminds me, few years back I had Amd radeon 3d card and while playing flight sim pc would freeze all the time, apparently radeon was getting too hot. I switched to geforce... problems gone

Never buying another AMD part

ATI definitely runs hot. I had a HD 4850 and I always had to turn up the fanspeed pretty high.

Just recently bought a Radeon Vega 56. Cant wait to try it. Theres no DVI port so Im waiting on my new curved monitor to be shipped in.

Remember VGA slots?

It cost $225 used. My 650watt power supply just meets the minimal power requirements for it. Its a 8GB. Its about 3 years old I think. The newest ATI card is the RX 580X. The Vega's came out just before the RX series.

Damn, your screen is FUCKIN HUGE  No wonder you have lag. You need to have two video cards for that kind of screen.

ah gotcha. I decided to go with the ultra smooth 144hz in a smaller sized screen. Its not even a 2k, more like HDx1.5 but Im excited for the high refresh rate. A trade-off with current display technology.

I see you went with the mega size :awehigh:

If i didnt have 4K display i would get those cutting edge new age computer screens that MATCH and LOCK screen refresh rate with your cards.. 100 mhz... smooth as butter

Thermal breakdown of silicon semiconductors is at around 150C. However, this is the actual spot temperature in the exact spot where the overheating occurs. Since the thermal sensors are always a little distance from such a spot and there's a time delay involved, significantly lower maxima should be observed. For practical purposes keeping temperatures below the quoted 90C would be sane, although something in the range of 90-100C or even a bit higher may still not result in thermal damage. It's hard to pin an exact figure on it due to the exact layout of the chip itself (the die, specifically) and the algorithms underlying the temperature readout, which combine input from various sensors, so you never know exactly what the precise temperature in different areas of the die are. Hence the necessary safety margin.

Ah very nice. Thank u for the technical information

That being said 68C is well within normal parameters Gypsy!
