Holes in dry verm layer after inoculation. Problem?

Hi everyone,
This is my first attempt at growing mushrooms. I decided on the PF Tek method and have a question regarding the inoculation holes.
I inoculated my jars this afternoon and noticed that in many of the jars, there is still a hole in the dry verm layer from where I pushed through with my needle.
I tried searching but could not find anything threads or comments on this topic. Should the dry verm have closed back up after inoculating the jar? Are these holes a contamination concern?
Thanks for the help!

to me it seems like some of the verm/brf mixture made its way up to the lid (i can't tell for sure)
this will be problematic becase it renders the dry verm almost useless
there's not much you can do now so i say just wait and see how it develops
if it's just the dry verm that got pushed to the side i think that lightly shaking it horizontally might make it settle (if the verm is still dry)

It doesn't appear to me that any of the mixture made it's way into the dry verm layer. I suppose I could open one of the jars up to see. I did try giving one of the jars a light shake, but that didn't seem to do anything. I am perplexed as to how this happened.

Should be fine. If it kakes ya feel better, gently tap on the side of your jars to resettle the verm back in place.

If it doesn't matter much I'll just leave 'em be and hope for the best.

Should be fine. I seriously doubt its a hole all the way down thru the layer. How deep did you make the verm layer?

1/2 inch. I filled up with the mixture to just below where the jar threads start and then dry verm from there up to the top of the jar.

Looks like your dry verm is wet. Could have gotten wet during PC run. I make sure my holes are up so if you drilled them and the metal pushed inwards. Than flip the kids next time you make jars and you will end up with a little volcano like mountain preventing water that condeses under the foil in the PC from pooling and running in your holes.

That's an interesting idea. I'll have to try that next time.
I did make my holes in these jars with a 1/8 drill bit so there really isn't that much metal left over to be honest. There is some, but certainly not enough to create a wall, so to speak, which wraps the entire of the hole's circumference.
I don't recall seeing anything in RR's Let's Grow Mushroom's PF Tek video regarding this topic, nor have I read about it in any of the popular instructional PF Tek threads on this forum.
Hopefully these jars colonize without any issue. Will be super bummed if I don't get a single viable jar (I have 18 inoculated).

Here are two side views at the inoculation points from one jar. Whether or not the dry verm layer is actually dry however is still a mystery as it's covered by the lid.
