I've been using my plates after I pour them and they solidify. Are you guys wrapping them up and sending them through the pc now? Is it necessary because I havent had much issues in my agar realm

There are two schools of thought on agar work - "pour" and "no-pour"
In "pour" teks you sterilize bottle of agar and before it solidifies, you pour it in your sterile plates, there is no need to sterilize it again after that.
In "no-pour" teks, you just heat up your agar solution in a pot, then pour it into your "plates" (you want to use a jar or PP5 container rather then traditional petri plate). Then you load your plates into pressure cooker and sterilize them.
Both methods get you sterile plates if done correctly.

Thanks for clarifying, I've been using the "pour" method. Why would someone prefer no pour? Easier for quantity?

Excellent explaination, except you can definitely pressure cook standard glass petris.
Why would I choose to do no-pour? I can pour my plates on the kitchen counter. I can pour straight from the pot. I don't have to monitor the agar temp for the perfect temp to pour. I can reuse clear glass petris.
There are downsides, but it's all a matter of what is important to you.

Thank you.
I wrote that you want to use jar or pp5 container since thats how most people do no-pour. I have read a bit on no-pour in glass petris and found mixed opinions... most people saying that the solution bubbles over.
Do you do no-pour glass petris? Would you care to explain how? I would like to know since i own some boro-silicate petris and would like to try it.

Yeah I use cheap glass petris, I've tried most everything else, but nothing compares to glass for visibility and reusability.
That bit about boiling over is a myth. At least I've never seen it. Maybe if you open the PC while still hot? IDK why you would since you have to wait for the agar to set anyway.
I pour my plates on the kitchen counter, from a small pot, wait for them to completely cool with lid off (I feel this reduces condensation), add lids, make stacks of 5, wrap in foil (recently read about someone using pc-safe bag instead), PC for 20. When PC is completely cool (for condensation), move dishes into sab, remove foil, go to work.
Afterwards I place them into ziplock sandwich baggies. I've tried wrapping them but they are a little moist at that point and put up a fight. Baggies are easy.
At first there's usually a little condensation on the lid, but it's gone in 2 days without any effort.
