Thats not true. My AA manual specifically says you can use extra virgin olive oil.
I wouldn't use veg oil though

I like to use vaseline as RR suggested, the vaseline is always right next to my electric AA.

I use petroleum jelly but i wipe it off after each use because it can catch the swarf and over time become abrasive. Just a lick.

Cant find my manual but this is from their FAQ page
"Apply a thin film of lubricant (extra virgin olive oil or Vaseline) to the metal-to-metal seal (to the edge inside the cooker where the inside wall begins to bevel out).  You only need enough lubricant to wet the edge, but not enough to actually see it."

If you were to use any oil, evoo would be the worst since its smoke point is about 50degrees less than veg oil.

Surprised the faq says to use oils that will burn away especially during longer cycles:shrug:

How hot does the outside of a PC get? I've never measured maybe it's a mute point.

your pc operates at

I googled it just now and it says 375 so lets just compromise there

Still the outside of your pc isnt much hotter than the inside at full pressure
cause the water basically acts as a coolant.

I had no idea they made PCs self contained like that. You just hook up a propane tank?

I've stopped using vasoline, or oils because they always seem to gum up over time.

I've switched to using silicone grease (on all of my PC's) since I have it for my brewing equipment....so far so good.

I’d found a regular 925 for $200 on Craigslist and then was cruising the marketplace and found the 25x for $300...couldn’t pass it.  I’m going to take a shot in the dark and say it’s just fine to use without the inside container as long as you have the rack over the heating element?

Ok well I went for a first round of bags, weren’t dry enough because when I opened the PC, they were full of condensation and mush burst oats.  Going back to jars until I can dial in the rest of this bag of oats.....but The fluctuation I’d pressure while dialing in the tstat wouldn’t be a contributing factor would it? I mean it never went out of the green before satisfying but it did go under 15 a few before kicking back in

I feel strangely vindicated. Thanks for looking that up.

I have even used some expired lavender essential oil. The amount used is so minimal that it doesn't matter In my opinion. Been doing it for many many years with no issue.

I also have a Cadco hotplate that I use to get an even temperature if I'm doing long pC runs outside. Or I like my propane burner campfire style if I'm PCing out of the wind in my shop.

I have found that if grains have a certain amount of surface water on them.... that will turn to steam and rise and burst the grains at the top of the bag. There are always a few burst grains on the cold surface side of the bags (facing the walls and maybe the top) but if you look carefully, its really only a few grains... nothing to worry about.

I’d agree it was all good if the “topside” of the bags as they say weren’t full of condensation.  I chalked it up to first try and will try to get them more dry in future before loading the bags.  But thanks for the all of the opinions and direction, much appreciated.
