i want to post some pics on the shroomery but i'm sketched out by the idea of posting incriminating pictures on the internet
i would have to use an android phone to take them and i don't trust android for anything privacy related
is there anything else besides location tag that can make an image traceable?

It it safe to upload pics here. On the upload page it says all the EXIF data is automatically stripped away from the photo before they store it.
You just need to use a VPN to hide your ip address if you are really worried. I think each time you post, the ip you used is kept for a week for safety reasons (in case someone makes a post where they are [convincingly] threatening to hurt themselves or others, for example).

safe way would be to run pics through a freeware meta data scrubber then log on via vpn then post to shroomery, take care and have a great week!

Shroomery privacy policy the part about IP logging is at the top. The whole thing is worth a read since it is pretty short and is written in easy to understand layman's terms rather than legal jargon.
This is from the board rules you agree to when making an account:
Quote:
Under specific circumstances such as a legal subpoena, we reserve the right to reveal any information about your identity we have collected. Please read and understand our privacy policy before you post!
I wouldn't worry about it personally unless you think law enforcement in your area are on to you AND have enough on you for a warrant AND they know you use the Shroomery. IMO, if law enforcement already knows this much about you, you're fucked regardless of what info this website shares about you

I appreciate you mentioning that and posting your source. The portion I was especially curious about was the length of time after which they delete the logs. Unfortunately they don't give any guarantees(which is frankly understandable).
Here's the relevant excerpt:
Quote:
Like most websites, The Shroomery maintains an access log which includes IP address information. This is done for our security and yours. These logs are deleted from the server periodically, but we make no specific guarantees about their longevity. We reserve the right to log IPs at any time. To prevent your personal IP address from being logged you can use TOR, a VPN, a proxy server, etc. The site's functionality may be impaired when you anonymize your connection.

Originally, for my first reply in this thread, I did a search and found this post showing they delete IP addresses once a week. It was only after you asked about the source that I looked at the current privacy policy myself, and noticed it has changed slightly in the last 15years.
The shroomery no longer discloses how long they keep ip addresses, you are correct.
But still, its nothing to worry too much about, IMO. If it does worry you, use a VPN. Easy peasy.
