Recommended plants to grow

I'd love to explore the world of cultivation after having done some mycology work. I love it.
What other areas would you recommend I dive into?
Thoughts on the peyote cactus?

Depends on your situation. If you own a property in zone 9a or better than you have a lot of options.

If you are renting, or live in a colder climate your gonna be limited. Not that you cant grow warmer climate plants in cold climates. You can it will just take more work.

Ephedra Sinica, Desmanthus Ilinoensis, Morning Glories, Passiflora Incarnata, and Nictiana Rustica can be grown outdoors in most areas of the US.

If you're interested in peyote, I would look into trichocereus also.

Its really up to you what you want to grow. You can grow just about anything anywhere as long as your willing to devote the time, money, and energy to provide adequate conditions for whichever plant/s you chose to grow.

Why not grow them all?

If that's not an option then you need to think about what plants take your interest and work from there.

Start from seeds would be my recommendation. It's cheap, you learn a lot and you can experiment with what works in your environment. Something you need to figure out before you choose what plants you can grow.

Brugmansia are hard to kill and easy to clone, a nice place to start, follow up with some datura.

If morning glory piques your interest have a look at the vine Ipomoea tricolor and the bush Ipomoea carnea.

A great cactus to be familiar with and have around.
