Did you empty the jars and mix it your self in the mono, or are the jars sitting in your mono with substrate around them? (Using Op's terms on this one)

You dont need to wait for it to mix. Just use your hands. Lol. And no you dont need to tape it you can introduce fruiting conditions on day one.

The word you are looking for is colonize. You wait for the substrate to colonize. Not trying to be a prick just making a little joke while also informing you of the correct vocab.

If in deed you are waiting for your substrate to colonize, this will give you some good ideas to follow.
How to dial in your monotubs like a boss - Mushroom Cultivation - Shroomery Message Board https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=2&Number=17332777&fpart=&PHPSESSID=
Hopefully you are along some of these lines of thinking, and maybe you can maybe catch up a little on your tub. Or at least, your next attempt you will have a clearer idea of the next step to take after jars are colonized. What type of spawn in the jars are you speaking of?

Ita fine for it to get air while it's colonizing. Go ahead and stuff the holes with polyfil or whatever method you are using.
