First Amanita Muscaria Mirodose Experience
    #26474216 - 02/07/20 04:19 PM (3 years, 11 months ago)

After reading studies about Muscimol's function on GABA-A2 receptors, I was trying to make a non-addictive substitute for diazepam using Amanita muscaria. I thought I'd share my experience of micro-dosing it today.

Background: I have Vestibular Migraine (a psychosomatic disorder caused by trauma) and 10mg diazepam is the only thing that ever makes me feel symptomless with few acute side effects. That was the effect I was looking for - but not what I got.

Prep: Oven-dried at 75 degrees C, ground to powder, soaked in lemon juice 20 mins, covered with a shot of hot water to drink.

Total dosage: Half tsp powder (roughly 0.5g) in two doses.

Major effects: Very noticeable blunting of emotions, leading to a rather "objective" state, which I'm not sure I particularly like. I have a "don't care" attitude, and this covers both negative and positive types of caring (anxiety and empathy). I feel like my passion and sense of humour has been dulled along with fear and negativity. It's very weird.

This "not caring" effect is not at all like other GABA-receptor substances such as diazepam or even alcohol. On diazepam, I can still feel all the positive and warm parts of emotions, and I can also feel negative and down. In fact, one of the things I dislike about diazepam is I find it mildly depressing. With AM, I feel like Mr Spock. I can't even feel revved up by music like I usually do.

Also, an interesting effect on my motivation levels. I can do things I might not otherwise do so readily because of migraine symptoms because there is no anxious reluctance. But I also feel a lack of "drive". There is no challenge or reward in doing things. This leads to a "take it or leave it" state.

AM only has a mild effect on my Vestibular Migraine symptoms. I can go longer under problematic lights without using sunglasses, but my co-ordination is still shit and reading on the computer screen still makes me dizzy. Perhaps dizziness and co-ordination are actually a tad worse. Again, it's like I still feel the symptoms just as much, but don't care an awful lot about them.

I had expected AM to make me feel relaxed and perhaps talkative. It does, but this does not make me sociable, because, again, there is no particular motivation to socialise. I have no desire to connect with people especially. So, when I have to talk, I can at length without filtering, but nothing I say is reckless. It's like the opposite in fact. I noticed, however, that was very easy to look people directly in the eye when talking about senstive stuff.

There were some interesting mild "trippy" effects. I can see why people get Alice In Wonderland Syndrome on this. An hour after the 2nd dose, I was on the bus and people looked the wrong size. Everyone looked sort of "squat" and the bus seemed very small. Mundane things also looked more bright and interesting. I also felt like time was more relaxed than usual.

I have a shocking memory already, but AM seemed to worsen this quite a bit. I was in the supermarket and couldn't read the list I'd written on my hand (my writing is appalling). I couldn't remember what I'd written at all. Diazepam only gives me retrograde amnesia.

I didn't get the nausea that people mention with AM, so I assume the Ibotneic Acid was well-converted. I also didn't feel any change in energy and no sedation (I don't feel sedated on diazepam either). I didn't test my performance on anything (except short-term memory).

All in all, this experience was interesting, but not at all what I had expected. I don't think it's going to work as a diazepam substitute. Actually, this makes me wonder what it is about diazepam that helps my symptoms. I will have to consider how else I might be able to use AM. I don't know if combining it with Lecithin (which makes me feel especially warm and at ease) might help. It's important to note that everyone's brain and body chemistry is different, so this is just my experience. But if I could sum it up, it was like being Mr Spock for the afternoon.

My first doses were at 3pm and 5pm and it's now 11:15pm. I took another 1/4 tsp (roughly 0.250g) an hour ago to see what effect it has on my sleep if any.

Interesting experience. I wish I had a frame of reference with which to contribute. But definitely an interesting read. Thanks.

Once again, it may very well be worth using it in a supplemental "stack", rather than relying solely on it, things work better in synergy. If you can find a mixture of herbs, oils or supplements to add to the Amanita micro/low dose, it may prove more beneficial rather than relying solely on the Amanita. Perhaps check out Lemon EO, i take 10 drops twice a day (12 hours apart), i find it has some good medicinal properties/benefits, and it may synergize nicely with Amanita, so it may be worth a try. Remember, just experiment around, maybe even add a little Coffee to the Amanita perhaps?

Thanks. I already drink extreme levels of coffee every day. I'll look up Lemon Oil. I am definitely going to try this again at different doses. I am interested in trying it with both Lecithin and NAC. It does have some good features even if it's not what I expected.

I forgot to say, I went to a meditation and it really helped in being able to focus and not get caught up with any thoughts. It was a very peaceful meditation, much better than I manage without anything.

I also just woke up after a 9-hour sleep, which is incredible for me. I usually struggle to get to sleep and wake up too early. I went to bed an hour earlier than usual, feeling a very "natural" tired. Initially, I woke up after 4 hours and was disappointed. But I fell straight back to sleep and then had another 5 hours. Yay! I can't recall the last time I slept that long. I'm usually low-level sleep-deprived all the time.

I also dreamed a lot. That's semi-normal for me. The dreams seemed OK, no nightmares. I can only recall that I woke up after dreaming I was in a hospital trying to get care for a friend. I kind of understand where that dream comes from.

If I am unsuccessful in using Amanita during the day how I would like to, as a sleep aid it's amazing, actually much better than any medication or herbal remedies that are my go-to sleep aids. Since it's other main benefit at the dosage I took was the ability to be hyper-rational, I could see it's uses for introspective purposes of some sort.
