Lion's Mane jars
    #26473500 - 02/07/20 09:02 AM (3 years, 11 months ago)

I am trying to grow Lion's Mane for the first time. The mycelium at first was very wispy which freaked me out until I read that it can look a lot like cobweb mold. My jars were about 80% colonized with the wispy mycelium when I had to leave them for four days, when I came back they looked like this

What's with the bright white growth? Is it trying to pin? Am I too late to transfer to bags? Or are they contaminated?

It's starting to fruit, spawn now :crazy2:

Oh man, I gotta get my shit together!

I'm planning on mixing up hardwood pellet and wheat bran spawn bags following the method and recipe on the Fresh Caps website--decent enough plan for a first timer?

Thank you!

not familiar with that but if it involves fully sterilizing the bags and spawning in front of a flow hood or SAB you should be good to go!

I'm going mostly by time.  If it was 80% colonized, and 4 days passed, it's beyond ready to spawn, and I don't see any contamination.  What I do see is some really thick white areas, which may or may not be actual fruit/primordia, but do indicate to me that it was ready a couple days ago

Spawned the jars this morning, they were definitely trying to fruit!

Hope that doesn't cause any problems.
