Forum notifications acting strange; anyone else having issues?
    #26473336 - 02/07/20 06:39 AM (4 years, 3 months ago)

I have had some threads with new posts becoming marked as read while I am not reading them. As in I log in, see the new posts in my threads but don't have time to read them so I don't click, come back later and threads that previously had new posts no longer show this. This doesn't seem like a big issue but it kinda spooked me after it kept happening. Not just 1 thread or the same thread but 4 or 5 threads in seemingly random order becoming "read" while I'm not on Shroomery.
I changed my password just to be safe but has anyone else noticed this? Could just be a glitch or something like that so thought I would check with the rest of you before I panic too much that someone else on using my account.

Thoughts?

Practice good security standards, the internet is a open world. If you have your password saved on whatever device you last logged in on, it can be extracted through a security vulnerability.

I never save any passwords on devices or to Google account. Never check the "remain logged in" or "remember me" etc boxes on any websites.
I also do not have Facebook or Messenger, Instagram, Twitter, or any other social media apps on my phone. I check permissions carefully on anything I download and will just simply not use it if I don't like what they are asking for. If necessary, I will enable a permission just long enough to accomplish my goal then disable or uninstall.

Again, changed password already and did so from different browser than I normally use. Also ran a scan on desktop to check for keyloggers and such.

Not really asking how it could have happened, more just trying to see if this issue is isolated to me, or if it is a glitch that others are experiencing.

Also, a thought:
Is there a way to see what threads I have recently viewed? I know I can see my comments and posts, and of course browser history will show me what I've viewed on a my devices but is there a way to see what threads my account has recently viewed but not commented?

If you are logging into your account from multiple devices you will see behavior like this.

Understood. This happens while only using one device.

Still nothing to worry about, the code which records which threads you have read is old and somewhat unpredictable.

That does put my mind at ease a little bit more. Thank you for your insight. I do appreciate it.
