Oddly enough I got one last night on my big toe. And the wifey was like no sorry i cannot do it. What the fuck> Alright give me a tack and i'm guessing i can get it out. It was on such a weird angle on my toe though that it was a pain.
Dug in deep and pulled the thing out. I have to stand on my feet for 12 hours a day for work i could not have a sliver just sitting in my foot.

I got one in the bottom of my foot once from sliding on a floor like a dumbass. We spent a good 2 hours trying to get it out but it was in too deep. Fucker really hurt. I had to embarrassingly go to the ER for this sliver but it turned out that's what I should have done in the first place because they had to freeze my foot and cut it just to get at the thing. It ended up being like 1-1.5" and I was still periodically pulling chunks of this thing that worked its way out of my foot, for years.

Yeah, it took me a minute to figure it out. I only clicked on the heading because I was confused.
I got a huge splinter in my foot about a year ago. My house is all hard wood floors. I was chasing my son and slid in my socks, the sock snagged a rough edge from the side of one of the floor boards and pulled it into my foot. Because I was still sliding it jammed the splinter in. I didn't know how bad it was until I got the sock off, which was hard to do because the sock was stuck to the remaining external bits of the splinter. I hobbled to the toilet and sat down to have a look. I was terrified to find a 3 inch long splinter that was buried horizontally in the bottom of my foot. Blood was seeping out the entry hole, but I could see the entire thing. I yelled for my wife, but she's a full time a student and was working on school work so she just ignored me, typical. So I hobbled to the bar, took like a triple shot of bourbon. I'm not really sure how much I drank because I took it straight from the bottle, then I hobbled back to the toilet and decided the sucker had to go. I managed to grab some tweezers from the medicine cabinet, using them I started pulling. The fucker was majorly wedged in. The tweezers were slipping off the splinter, the increasing amount of blood was not helping. Eventually I decided that I needed to loosen the thing up a bit, so I hobbled to the kitchen grabbed a paring knife, and then went back to the toilet. I cut about a .25" slit around the opening of the splinter and that made it so I could get a better grip on it. After this, I was finally able to free the splinter from my foot. Luckily, I pulled the entire thing out in one piece. About 30 seconds later my wife saunters in, asks what's going on. I'm all bloody, but I was feeling pretty relieved. I showed her my foot and the beast of splinter, she was pretty grossed out. I hobbled around for about a week after, but it wasn't too bad.
Sliver sucks.

When I was a kid, we’d just moved to ny, we went to the beach and I decided to run across the boardwalk to catch an ice cream truck...barefoot. Every step stung a bit, but all I remember thinking was “wow this wood is really hot from the sun”. Well I wasn’t burning my feet - I was driving multiple splinters into my soles with every step. It took all night to get most of them out via baking soda baths and very painful, hellish picking. My mom pulled at least 20-30, then took me to the ER cause some were too deep and others had broken off...Couldn’t walk normally for over a week, and some of them stayed in there for months later, unnoticed until they became infected.
Let me tell you, I’ve been through a lot of painful shit since then, but nothing compares to that first night of torture.

I'm so used to doing it myself. Take a tack or a needle for sewing and just take off the few layers that are Quote:

oof that sounds brutal. I have a story about a kid running next to the river and got a 3 pronged fishing hook in his foot. Fuck that would have sucked.
