Yeah Doc,
There have been some finds up the north coast, but I’m a little far south at the moment I think. Plenty of rain forecast this week, so fingers crossed

So was anyone ever just asked a farmer "hey mate do you mind if I just look around your paddock for shrooms?"
Just wondering. Yesterday and today have resulted in a couple of pan ants and a few suspicious looks.

Unfortunately they are a bit aged and not in great condition.
I suspect they are Cubenses but they are too old to bruise the stems and can't get a spore print.
Most of them are around 50mm in diameter.
[url=http://files.
no these are definitely not cubes, look to be dried out parasols, maybe Macrolepiota clelandii. Just don't get this type mixed up with Chlorophyllum molybydites!!
We have heavy rain predicted thurs and friday ... let's see if the mid-n-coast can fire up :-)

Shroomery folks talk about how they do this. It's probably the best policy since most farmers are probably hip to it anyway.

Ive always asked. Makes it way safer than trespassing for sure. Youll probably get some nos but you can ask to help out or give them some gourmets and teach them how to find those.

When I was a kid, I would trespass for shrooms, but now I'm old and can't run fast enough, so I ask for permission.
Don't lie to them, you can't imagine how many people ask them for permission to hunt mushrooms, between their friends, family and the friends and family of those people have asked already so they are not stupid.
Being able to hunt with permission is amazing, absolutely no pressure and you can take your time. Hunting in daylight hours is the shiznet. Love seeing a big ol' fat cube peaking at me from the grass in the distance and being able to really enjoy all the different things growing in the pastures.

A question for the cubensis gurus. When is the ideal time to go for a look for P.cubensis after rain? Wait a day or two, do they need a full day of sun after rain to pop? We are having consecutive days of good rain here in the Newcastle/Hunter region, so do I go after and during days of rain? What is the life cycle of cubensis from pinning to mature given ideal conditions? I found with the P. Subaeruginosa this past winter it was between 4-7 days from seeing pins to mature mushrooms give or take.
Sooo bloody keen to get out there for a 👀

Hey guys, anyone here personally found cubes around the Illawarra/Kiama area of NSW?
I've moved down here from north coast and wondering if it's worth my time checking out some of the paddocks around here after the big rain we're getting atm.
I'll prob go looking anyway but it would be nice to hear from anyone else local

Up in Queensland but we don't have an official thread. You know it's a good haul when you can't fit them all in the dehydrator... Had to stop picking for the first time ever because I got bored of it! Sorry no habitat shots of these beauties, tend not to take my phone with me. Peace all & merry hunting
