What is your personal wealth goal? 1

How rich do you want to be, if you had to pick a goal figure?
For me, its 10,000 krugerrrands, or $15,000,000 in todays money.
That works out to 25 of these:

What sum says to you?

1.8 mil Canadian dollars. That's my retirement goal. When I have that amount of money I'm not going to have to work. I might still work, but I might not.

I'm not sure about $ value but all i want is my car from my teens back up running and a nice 100 acres of country.. not necessarily farm land (would be great), but mountains or something would be fine. i'd like to never see another human again so maybe 2 mil ish.

How will it keep you in income?
I expect economic bumps in the road. High inflation etc.

My personal goal is not going into debt. I have no credit cards, between the wife and I we own 4 paid-for vehicles. 3 are in good shape. I own a little under 5 acres of land, no debt. I just took on another job to save up money to get a house out there. Also I want to buy more silver. Last year, I wasn’t able to buy as much silver as I wanted too. This year I’m going to double down on it.

Enough to stop working at 50
This may happen through inheriting, but small chance of not getting nearly enough
Overall just try and live debt free and not above my what I can actually pay for

Sage advice. My wealth goal is also to live balanced, regardless of what the numbers may total in any given moment. I'm at a point where, if I were to downsize in certain areas, I could totally stop working. However with a family and wanting to live in a nice area of southern California, not to mention a thirst for travel and the desire to show my son much of the world, I'll be doing part-time self-managed work for the foreseeable future.
On an ancillary note, I find that a lot of the work I do gives me a real sense of purpose. I think that when we're younger, it's easy to say that we just want to have all day every day to do whatever we want. In theory it sounds great, and in practice I'm sure a few people can live that life to its fullest. But I also think that as we get older, too much idle time can become a burden in and of itself; by promoting laziness which in turn may reduce our physical health, and/or boredom which may increase our tendency toward substance use or abuse that can also affect our health.
Balance, it's the only way.

For sure Balance!
My wealth goal is to retire by age 60, but also along the way work and earn money in a way that makes me happy. I am very fortunate to have a job that allows this and in a way feels like retirement. It could end at any moment, but ive been saying that for 8 years now. If I can continue working here until I retire I will.
So yeah... the goal: have enough money saved up that by the time I am 60 I can choose to stop working completely, which is achieved through:
- work I enjoy - the ability to do what I want during my working years - work/life, and basically overall life balance

For me, it would simply be to pay off all my debts, which are around $20,000. Thatd be amazing.
After thats done, any amount of savings would be awesome.

Right now my goal is to just get myself out of debt. That should be done in 6-7 months, been about 2 years now that I'm trying to get rid of the debt, and its great to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.
When my debt is cleared, it'll be time to re-evaluate my long-term financial plan. Probably going to start investing like 50-60% of my income into a mix of stocks, property, and crypto, and just work on not spending excessively.
@Ahab McBathsalts: So with our monopoly money that should be $100K USD? 1.8mil CAD sounds like a really solid amount of money to retire on, good luck with your financial goal.
I really wish out dollar was a lot stronger, being in the states right now and its brutal having a 35cent markup on every dollar.

3.2m total assets. Once I hit that, I start drawing a 125k salary from my investments and retire.
I figure that should be approximately half of a median household income around 2070, and my expenditures at that age should be lower. At least with 3.2m I shouldn't be paying rent or a mortgage.

$50 million net worth in 10 years. It may sound crazy but I’m dead serious. I made a few moves in real estate and increased it by ~$500k just in the last two years. The growth curve is exponential so if I keep up the momentum, there’s no reason why I could make it happen.

No MLM here. I don’t even have business partners. I’m too controlling. I love naysayers btw, just makes the success that much sweeter
I buy portfolios of rental properties from people who couldn’t manage them for a deep discount, use the rents to upgrade the properties and refinance to pull out capital for the next acquisition while increasing the amount of rent I can get.
Lots of Section 8 properties in my portfolio. Uncle Sam always pays the rent lol. It’s nothing new. Kind of a boring strategy actually but it’s given financial freedom, I can provide nicer homes for the less fortunate and allows me to pursue endeavors with a greater purpose. Anyone with a solid work ethic can do what I do. I’m not special.

Been thinking about this a lot lately
- Second house in France on the SW coast - Nice appartment to live in (mortage free) - Second appartment to rent out and build retirement fund - Well paying job with the option of cutting down hours as I get older (probably interim management)

We've got a greedy ol bat of a slumlord out this way who uses a team of lawyers to steal thousands from each rental contract (everyone's deposits & tons of completely falsified fees) then sits back and watches the shit show she creates. She's a successful thief who gets what she gives...pure hatred.
Hope you're one of the few good ones!

You have to put this into perspective. How old is everyone so we know how much longer they have to save/retire.
29 y/o here. 8-10 year plan to save $35k a year. After that it will grow by itself until I retire at 65. 3 rental homes now, I want min. 2-3 more within 10 years.
Quasi retire at the end of the 10 year mark.

Care to share more info? What market? What real estate type residential or commercial? Age? Are you paying cash or financing?

My goal used to be to acquire property through banks loans to build a portfolio then use capital growth to sell at profit and pay down the debt. Pretty typical property investment strategy in Australia. Then I realised I dont actually enjoy having to think & worry about the market, my tenants etc. So I sold the property at a small loss (it wasnt making much anyway and had low expectations of capital growth) and purchased some ETF's that just sit there doing their thing.
My goal now is to just pay off the debt on my place of residence then take a more flexible approach to work e.g. working less hours per week. I am lucky that I'm on a good salary that allows me to live comfortably and save at the same time. A while back I decided not to increase my cost of living as my salary increased and that has been a big help. It's an easy trap to get into.

I mean, IME that's exactly what slumlords do. They buy up lower income housing inventory, "upgrade" them, and double the rent or cash out the equity.

How can you say that’s a slumlord? What do you call homeowners who buy older properties and fix them up? Homeowners gentrify neighborhoods pushing out lower income people just as much, if not much more, than landlords do.

No idea, but my pathetic goal is to buy three more houses (in addition to the one I own)and rent them out. Then live on my school bus and therefore not have to work so very much. Though with this pandemic I'm really not working at all.

Houses may become very cheap in the not too distant future for sure. Your challenge will probably be finding suitable tenants.
