In NYC it can go until around the third week of June, if it gets back into the right temperature range for 3+ days.

Dang Shroomhunts that's a freaky bunch! Never seen anything like that...wonder what causes the sterility.
Also can confirm late-season fruits seem to be strong as hell. Found a few little ones on a bike ride yesterday, ate a little one about 1 inch long (maybe .5g...maybe!) and had to park my ass in the grass 30 minutes later because the sky had some lattice on it! I ate almost 5x the amount of another patch earlier in the season and felt nothing....Wild. Would love to know why!

I just found a few more in Atlanta today (June 1). I thought our season was nearly over back in April. Keep looking as long as conditions are favorable. You might just be surprised...

Baltimore City - base of a tree along a river. Lots of natural mulch stuff. Pretty big caps w/ deep bluing. They were also very dried out feeling. First picture is of the stem butts and wood chips attached to the base of the mushrooms - shows deep bluing. Other pictures are of the larger specimens. I picked about 40 with caps ranging 1/4 inch to about 3 inches.

Usually things shut down after 4-5 days in the 90s. I think things will be another couple weeks, but be slowing down as most the big flushes have already happened.

I thought my season was over but things seem to continue to push along. This has been a great last few weeks. The countless hours of poring over annual ovoid threads finally paid off.

Tomorrow I'm going smallmouth fishing but there's a potential area 10 minutes away. I know it's not ideal to go looking for new areas at the end of the season but I have a hunch. If anything, I'll stop at another spot on my way home that I left 50 pins last week. I don't expect them to still be there but it's mulch in woods that suits on top of a really muddy flood plain. It's the last part of the woods to dry up so it continues pushing. Good luck for everyone still hunting, congrats to the season first timers, and happy hunting to all. Don't forget to spread those stem butts, make mycelium water to spread, and clean up any trash you find on your travels.

Its a pain hunting new territory when the plants take over. Its best to find deirbs piles early on and check them later in the season. scouting csn save you a ton of time hunting late in the season. New patches can be found in the late season, use a machete or stick and look under plants that are easily chopped like knotweed or waterplants.

Baltimore City, MD - Along a river bank. Dense pile of branches. Just a few specimens in poor condition in one patch after 4 hours scouring the area. Lots of mycelium that suggests P Ovoid throughout the area.
Looking forward to the rain in the forecast!

You better use that mycelium to start another patch.

Shit, it hasn't rained in a long time here, my garden is suffering badly!
This being said, I don't know how the heck you guys are still finding ovoids with these horrible dry and hot conditions.
At least here it's gotten that bad. It's 86 right now,and will be in the 90's tomorrow.
I haven't found a single mushroom of any kind in weeks
I should finally find a new hobby as long as I live in this hellhole

Baltimore area is super humid - it's gotten a little warm a few days, but night time temperatures have stayed cool. Our river valleys are pretty low compared to the surrounding land and they tend to stay cooler and more humid than the surrounding area, too I think that's the reason I've had luck. The last two days, the mushrooms that I did find were all surprisingly dry feeling, but if you look back through the thread - they look alright! Today, I barely saw any mushrooms growing, but we got a brief rain and more is in the forecast. Hoping to get a nice hunt in this weekend!

Really all you need to do is bury them in mulch in a shady area. Let nature do the work for you

It’s been hot and dry here in Atlanta since last week, but my patch squeezed out a few more today.

Thanks for the suggestion! I will suggest that to a friend eventually. A friend abroad is just trying to get a good culture going in doors as a challenge. They plan on seeding patches later.
Also, I've found the wild specimens in 3 distinct areas, and notice unique physical characteristics, so they are trying to get cultures of all 3 going. One produced smaller, lighter mushrooms, while the other 2 locations produced fruits that tended have the darker wildly wavy caps.
