Your canceled rain fell must have fell here.
It rained and it rained and rained... 24 hours straight and still going. I went down to check on some man made patches in relatively high places in flood zone of a smallish river and they are completely under water. So the patches are probably decimated =(. But maybe they will deposit down stream or even manage to stick where they are. Flood water is considerably higher than all the debris piles where. Bunch of people have water in their basements near me and not to far away houses are flooded out. =(

Weather has been weird here. Seemed like was going to be an early spring then got cold repeatedly. Dryad saddle seems way behind and Morels did not seem like a good season here.
Mulch patches started with PF cakes last June have not fruited and after the flood likely only hope for local action. Getting worried nothing this year but tons of mycelium growth. For sure some decomposition going on as cracks have formed in some of the mass of mycelium like the substrate is shrinking. Hopefully this continually wet weather with mild temps will get it going.

What’s up y’all?
Greetings from Georgia. I thought our season was coming to a close but gathered another decent haul today.

I haven’t posted on this thread this year - mostly on the Georgia 2020 thread. It’s been a good ovoid season for me. Found my first back in March and have had numerous good hauls since then from one local park. Here are some highlights:

I appreciate everyone contributing their knowledge. Wouldn’t have found squat without shroomery.

All my finds have been within the city limits of Atlanta.

Does Atlanta have a river running through it? isn't that a huge area? Are you finding them in man made habitats? Is there a creek in your park? I'm torn between going six hours north or six hours west in search of ovoids this year if I get a chance to go hunting.

2 rivers start in the Atlanta area. Yellow river and South river. They both run into Jackson lake (my area) and the ocumulgee runs to Flordia.

Here's some of the things I saw on Monday. Was amazed that I saw as many as I did despite the lack of precip. Lots of cool blue caps about.

How far north you thinking about venturing to? I'm sure wherever you go tho you'll find them if they're there.

We also have the chattahoochee and all its tributaries. Runs all the way to the Gulf of Mexico. It is a large area for sure. My finds have been in the typical habitat - flood plain near a creek with box elder trees. I thought our season was over - this could be the last week for them here. Getting hot and the mosquitoes are coming out in a big way. But we have other species coming into their season - namely Weilii (caerulescens)

So, I made a bed with my ovoid spawn, and it's eating though shit like there is no tomorrow!
I'd like to keep feeding it, to insure that the myc has enough to make it though until next spring, but I want to use the natural resources that I have around the yard.
I have tons of old hardwood debris sticks, rotten logs, and whatnot lying about, and I wonder if I could just keep mixing that in with my spawn?
Do ovoids have a preference for any certain type of wood, or will they decompose all types?
I know this is actually isn't the right place to post this, but I know a few of you guys are really knowledgeable with these, and could possibly help me out

If you have lots of space and want a big bed you can feed them older/seasoned wood or softer hardwoods like alder that they will move through quickly . If you want to keep the bed small feed them fresher harder wood species like maple that will take them longer to digest.
