I dont know about all this virus stuff, government control, or plague options and transferring stuff like that.
I do know I have a mind bug that needs dealt with and ovoid season beginning will totally get rid of that bug.

Think I found a new spot up the street from my house! I spotted lots of mycelium that I believe to be from ovoids. Time will tell just gotta wait for some rain down here. Ovoid mycelium is pretty unique looking right?

So far, it's been detrimental only to the elderly and those with preexisting health conditions that affect their immune system. IF, healthy people start dropping dead it's time to panic.

what? are the thousands that have already died from this not a cause for concern bc they consist primarily of those who are elderly and sickly? According to those who actually study things of this sort this isn't at all an overreaction. Just look at some of the projected numbers of those to become infected and/or die in the following months. This is no joke.

Landscape wood chip projects mycelium looks fantastic and had spread very much since last summer when it was started. I see some places the mycelium is grown to the top layer of the wood chips and it visible. Should landscape mulch with exposed mycelium be covered by straw, more wood chips added(at this point in season) or left bare?
I've had poor fruiting results when I added anything* to a mulch bed this close to fruiting season.
*except: shred dry leaves that fell last fall--by hand if you have to--then sprinkle a light, approx 1/2" layer over the mulch, leaving patches of mulch showing in places...meaning, dont make a solid carpet/covering of shredded leaves. Or you can dust the mulch with grass seed in order to have some light vegetative cover but it might be too late already since everything is so early this year. The idea is to have something to hold humidity at the surface of the chips while being careful (with shredded leaves) to not make a thick, suffocating layer.
Good luck.

Thanks I am going to resist the urge to mess with it anymore and just let nature take its course. I got five or six different places going with ovoids in landscape wood chip mulch. Last fall had put straw over top of about 2-3 that squirrels kept digging in and it does looks a little matted down now. The mycelium is for sure up to the straw layer and eating it. Will be interesting to see if straw covered fruits better than bare wood chips.
Saw mycellium eating a peanut shell damn squirrels dug in and left =D.

Yes, anything put down last year and now colonized/partly colonized is a possible fruiting medium.
After the fruiting season add soaked, slightly aged woodchips and bury-- just under the surface--a few larger branches; forearm size is good. And again, you can seed it lightly with grass if youd like. In the fall, let leaves cover it and perhaps add some fresh maple or elder sticks. After leaves have dropped, the larger branches and trunks of small trees are good because the tree has sucked all the good juices down into itself for the winter months. Then let it eat during the wet autumn months.
Tge fresh branches and small trunk pieces will take a couple years to fully colonize but it's great long term food and will eventually reward you with some massive fruits.

The woods are the place to be. Disregard the morons in the streets with masks, as if it's floating around outside in the air. That being said, it is serious to certain groups of people, but hunting mushrooms poses much lower risk than going grocery shopping. A good chunk of the people freaking out probably haven't had a flu shot.
