Mason jars work good with or without salt. Got a storage crisis right now a bunch of plastic bags in a tote with some damp rid

Yes. Once you've smelled them it's a distinctive smell. To me it's like a wet dog smell. To others its different. Once you find more you'll understand. Just wait. Next week will be popping for us.

With the rain, unusual cold, and then rising temps it should be perfect conditions soon.

Nothing like microdosing your first ovoid find. Gonna save one as a keepsake. I put some stem butts in old wood chips. Would they fruit next year?

I'm gonna guess 5 wet. Thats already a ridiculous amount. 5 dry would be like 50 lbs wet lol. I don't think you could even pick that amount in a day even if you could find them.

The problem ive been having isnt finding the mushrooms its picking them. Havent been able to bring in more than 25lb wet in a day. I just pick until i run out of daylight or space in my bag.

That's a great problem to have. I'm out here trying to find a handful lol. I think the temperatures have been stunting growth in my region.

Anyone pick any weak batches this year?
I ate 3 grams yesterday and about 45 minutes in, started to think something was amiss. At the one hour point I had the manic energy I associate with tripping but basically nothing visually except some increased color intensity.
I ended up eating another 3 grams at the one hour mark and had a decent trip but basically just a super manageable (but still very pleasant) trip. I haven't tripped in a couple months so I was expecting to be orbiting somewhere around jupiter.
I'm not on any medication and it had been 3 hours since I ate so I was a little surprised. I then saw some folks reporting some weak harvests last year.

It's slightly that, but mostly just the fact that they aren't as common the further east/north you go. In a couple years, if not by next year, I feel that they will spread to the extent where there are pounds..

I consumed around 4 grams dry for my first trip this year...was definitely experiencing semi-intense visuals and color enhancements, as well as the other attributes of a pleasant trip. Perhaps it was just the variability in potency playing its role and you consumed less than average shrooms, potency wise.

Yeah, they were definitely weak.
I thought maybe I messed them up while drying. I only had a fan and split and shredded them pretty good to accelerate the drying process. But then I read conflicting reports about this type of heavy handling having an adverse effect on the potency.
I follow the logic of why manhandling them would have a negative impact but I can't manage to believe it would be so dramatic as to reduce potency to the level I saw. So I think I just got a weak batch. It's all good. Nature's bounty is indeed most variable. One can't really complain about free mushrooms as a reward for a pleasant hike.
PS I started with roughly 410 grams wet. But this was before I cut off stem butts and cleaned them. So the amount I actually started drying was definitely less. But I ended up with about 25 dry grams. It is a possibility that I didn't dry them sufficiently but they crumbled apart pretty readily in my hands so I don't think water was inflating my dose.

I think we live close to each other and Honestly conditions have been great this past week. I never find pounds like the guys over in Ohio river valley or Koods but this was the best year I’ve seen in about a decade. Can’t say for sure but I bet this cold snap will produce another wave of fruits in the coming days.
Regarding how close to water, I don’t know if a measuring stick is the most accurate answer but I have always found them on the flat part of the floodplain creeks. Sometimes right on the bank and sometimes 20 yards away, but always on the first flat part of the flood plain.
The guys getting pounds might have the luxury of just walking until they find these honey holes but where they are more sparse I often find them by seeking out a good micro habitat and then sitting down and scanning for a while. Get keyed in on exactly what you are looking for, not a general mushroom hunt. Like morels and other fungus, the more you find, the better you get at finding them.

Potency can vary from patch to patch but usually the ones i get are stronger than the cubensis people sell on the street. Only need about 2.5g dry for a good trip equal to a cut of cubensis. If you let them sit too long before harvest the actives degrade and potency drops. Get em before the sun bakes them or they start to rot
