Yeah mushrooms decompose carbonaceous matter into basic molecules and then use those components to suit their needs. Complex toxins are unlikely to be absorbed unchanged into the mushroom itself. Simple elements like heavy metals can end up replacing non toxic elements with similar biological functions (lead for calcium for example) but even something like CN is unlikely to survive the organism’s metabolism.

Knot weed is a tall, reddish green plant that resembles bamboo when mature.
Here’s some pix of knotweed. They’re 3d if you can cross your eyes properly.

Good find on that, and again just looking out. I know of, but not about WLP. And I know an old trick my papaw taught me to catch fish with walnut husks. Both stood out and I thought I'd bring it up.

One or two feet? Both the spots I’ve had success at this year have had completely overgrown patches of knotweed. Head height and taller. I was there when it was just coming up but that was a month ago. I’ll have to do some exploring closer to the beltway.

Finally getting around to sorting my pics. It's been such an exhausting week. So many ovoids coming up right now. We found some good ones last week in PA and this weekend the local stuff finally started popping. This season so far has been better than the total of last season. I'm so stoked that we still have 4-5 weeks before the heat starts shutting things down.
Here's some of the pics of the other variety I've found over the weekend and the past couple days.

To all the peeps still having trouble finding them all I can say is keep at it. There def out there, but so are a lot of other ovoid hunters these past couple years. A lot of spots have been known about for a decade or more, even before they were put on MO, so you have to use the knowledge provided here and apply it to your area. It would most likely help to try and look in areas not directly listed, because spots publicly known have probably already been hit up. You may get lucky and find some, but not like you will if you go somewhere hardly anyone else does. ... I swear, making specific spots public was/is not in the best interest of this sacred species or the environment it calls home.

SEPA is totally on right now. We saw a whole bunch up in Lancaster n York Co. I'm sure more north is a lil behind tho. It's been a back n forth season when it comes to the temps, for sure. It's moving north tho, so should be any day now.

I’m eagerly awaiting Psyche delics finding some in New Jersey so I haven’t failed as a teacher.
Some pics from the last few days. Even some growing in logs (I’m still undeterred from my opinion that the log fruiting behavior of the Susquehanna variety is vastly different than these guys)

I have a feeling that you'll start finding more of them on logs. It's like everything else .. once you know what to look for you'll start to be drawn into the right areas Nice finds btw!
