DC is fine. I found tons yesterday, all within 10 feet of bike paths. Look for trees that have been planted in the past few years. The ones with mulch piled around them.
I’m not sure why you can’t find them. They’re everywhere this year.

Second year hunting and DC suburbs are paying off, maybe koods is getting to em first. What worked for me was visualizing where floodwater and debris would pile up based on topography. This past week they’ve been wild, they’ve been in every other nook and cranny I check.

Its good to slow down and really look, you might see one gold cap out of the xorner of your eye then you gwt down in the shit and theu are everywhere. take your time, i watcher my wife trample pins and walk past huge clusters. She says "I cant find any!!!" Then i showed her that she has been walking on them the whole time and she lost it.
Seen more people picking this year than ever before. Saw an elderly couple yesterday that asked me what i was doing, when i told them, they asked if they could help.

Still no luck here in SEPA but I know the prime-time for us is coming soon. If people ask what youre doing, do you think it would be a bad thing to just say "foraging for edible and medicinal mushrooms". I havent come along anyone to ask me but I feel that is what my response would be, just like to hear opinions.

I carry a fishing pole and worms. Hide them in a bag under the dirt with the worms.

I think there is finds in the DC area? Can you travel even just little bit to look new areas? Study google maps to help find potentials.
Took me 2nd season and a road trip before I found any. Don't give up, it is worth the effort and wish you good luck!

I didn't find any on my usual stream yesterday. I didn't look very well, just a couple minutes.
This is normal though as every year my debris pile ovoids come in later. I might walk up to a park today.

I'm starting to think that Ovoids just aren't in eastern Pennsylvania/southern NY......I looked at the weather and it's been the same as in western Pennsylvania and D.C. where all the ovoids are being found.
.....can't really think of another explanation

What part of NY are you in? I'm central NY. Been checking flood plains and mulch beds but no luck. Not really seeing many mushrooms of any type though. It's been warming up and then like today is back down to mid 40's.
I was gifted some Ovoid prints, gonna get some beds going. Hopefully they'll spread
