Love seeing all the first time finds on here, it warms my heart that more people are discovering these sacred mushrooms growing right under their noses. I got a few patches that are in highly public areas, thousands of people pass right by them every day without even thinking twice. If only they knew

I agree, that's what really intrigues me about the ones around the susquehanna.
The thing is, not only is that variety not unique to the susquehanna region, a discrete colony that I've observed for several years in VA changed appearance from the wavy cap form to the very bell shaped, pronounced nipple cap look from last year to this year.

I left a few pins, and just wondering if weathers right, how many days until they flush again. I would guess 3 days, or is it more? Lots of mycelium everywhere. Even places I didnt see oviods but I'm certain they were it
IME, it depends on air temp, humidity, habitat (exposed or sheltered), substrate type and age, & maturity of the colony at least.
There are usually approx two distinct flushes per season (or more), often several weeks apart, with scattered early, middle, and late fruits.
None of the above are hard and fast rules but are the results of observations year to year of colonies in natural floodplains habitats, mulched areas, and man made patches with a variety of substrates.

The mushrooms in the pic were from the Monongahela River. They were propagated on mulch from stembutts of wild specimines from last year. I dont think the nipples are exlusive to tge susquehanna just seem to be more common there

Possible variant?
Pic's 1-2 are wild ovoids growing from Knotweed. Today I find them growing side by side along with samples from several other patched. Its a mixed bag propagated patch of stembuds from four locations. They are all feeding on box elder now. I wrote off the different characteristics just being food source and environment, but now its obvious they are not the same. The odd ball is sponge like and dry to the touch even when its raining, they hold together very well and after drying you can bounce them off the wall. All others found locally are slimy and fall apart easily, after drying the hold together well but not bouncy. The pics i guess dont say much.

Based upon a friend's vast number of PA observations, I agree with that.
What was entirely unexpected was a colony spontaneously changing appearance from one April to the next after remaining consistent for several years.

Found these about 25 miles from Susquehanna, definitely a different variety, than the Sus Valley "nipple" variety we've been finding. These have wavy, flattened out caps, thicker stems, and the edges of the caps really blue up nice when picked. Found some monsters, big boys today
Curious, any species of trees other's are finding associated with voids? It seems fairly exclusive to box elder in specific habitats here in my area.

If anybody in DC wants to go hunting let me know. I'm getting skunked at the moment. I was standing in a bunch of Japanese knotweed today and nothing.

I found these. I am new to this but after reading enough, i guess these are ovoids. Can somebody confirm please? They smell farinaceous (actually they smell very nice) are gilled and I found them near a river

Seems like you have the right idea. Finding the right spot at the right time is a matter of persistence and sometimes luck. Generally it's believed that daytime temps should be 60-80 degrees and consistent 40 degree nights.
Finding the right habitat is absolutely key. Also important is to not have expectations of finding them. I spent 5 years hunting these before I found my first spot. Admittedly I live in a place where they aren't as common. Point being, you gotta put in the work.
Perhaps you could take some photos of the areas you're focusing on and post them here. There's many people here with tons of experience hunting this species and they'll be happy to look at your habitat and make suggestions.
Good luck, I hope you find some this season! Don't get discouraged, the mushrooms are out there.
Thanks to you and everyone else who replied. Here is a 3 picture series of my newest spot. No luck today, everything is dry but do you all think im on the right track?! Thanks for the feedback this community is the shit and I appreciate you all.

Ovoids indeed
Thanks, btw i don't think the ones on the upper part of the picture and on the bottom part are the same, I think the ones on the bottom are psilocybe cyanescens whiletheones on the top are ovoids. Is this right?

Any one have experience with Ovoids in New York? any tips?
I've been going on hunts but feel like I need more guidance...
I'm less than an hour north of NYC in the Hudson Valley.
