IDK if it'll work on nettles, but for bites & stings there is little better.

If anyone has, or know someone who has, psoriasis, a compress of broad leaf plantain not only relieves itching and pain but resolves a flare up faster than the prescription cream one gets from the pharmacy...or at least it has for three people I know, over several flare ups for each person.

Momma said the NDNs called it snake weed and believed it to cure snake bite, but IDK about all that. It definitely works on other things, tho.

Jewel weed’s another common remedy for the nettle stings. Plus it grows in the same habitat, so you’ll likely find it nearby.

Finally found some this year in Fairfax/Loudon/Prince William county (Northern VA). Only started hunting again after a hiatus of many years since I had a patch that fruited from 2013-2018, and as my needs were small I'd just go grab a few once a year during peak season after a good rain. The patch finally stopped fruiting however and I've been hunting like crazy this year, must have visited 8 or 9 creeks in 3 different counties, but didn't find anything until I looked just a tiny bit downstream of my old patch. I've also seen far, far more people out on the trails this year than in the past because of covid and I even grabbed a bunch of what I think are agrocybe, and only got a measly 3 ovoids compared to like 12 agrocybes since I just grabbed without proper examination.. however once seen side by side the ovoids are far more beautiful and pungent than any of the similar mushrooms one might find, the agrocybe I found were, however, in exactly the same habitat as the ovoids. I'll post some pics once I figure out how to.

I wanted to give a BIG-THANKS to relic & his buddy for taking me hunting with them this past week!  I got to hunt a new habitat, seen some extraordinary large trees & according to relic I found the largest of the season thus far.  I wish I had taken more pictures but unfortunately I overslept that morning & my time was limited, so I focused on harvesting instead of photos.  I did however get a pic of a cluster growing from a box elder log & wish I had taken more due to the abundance it had on it.

A good time was had by all. Glad to put you on some good fruits and that one fatty was certainly the largest I've seen in person or pics this year.

That log had at least, at absolute minimum, 100 fruit bodies on it. It was surely closer to 200 than 100, but nobody was counting and I hate exaggerations so, yeah. Even better, there were many large ones and about 15 or so giant clusters.  You made an outstanding find there, no doubt.

Glad you had fun and we'll do it again some time.

:peace:

If you could, send me some of those pictures from that log. I only got the 1 :-( + I tried copying the picture you posted - the 1's in your hand but wasn't able to.

Also, did you get a good example picture of them growing from that log to show
Koods?

Wow! Doesn’t get much better than hunting with relic I would imagine 😳 and congrats on the finds vahunter 😁lucky girl
Also gonna concur with the jewel weed being the remedy for the stinging nettle, as it’s usually easy to come by.
I think of the nettle like getting a tattoo, it stings but it means you’re in there grabbing those ovoids... WORTH IT!bring on the sting baby! I’m kinda weird mayb? Lol

Here's some pictures from my finds
Habitat:

Found them buried in the middle of the celandine, recent rain knocked the celandine down a bit otherwise it would have been impossible to see anything.

Spot the ovoid:

There's only one, relatively easy to spot with gills up but harder from above:

In this picture there is only one ovoid for certain, the rest were not so I tossed them.

And here is the 3 I found, depressingly small hunt but better than nothing:

Decent little haul today, tried a few more spots but I’ve only had luck going back to the first spot so far. How much longer will this season last in DC metro area do you think? I’m trying to stock up but it’ll take a while an eighth at a time like this.

I'm on the board, new spot I found today

it's one, but we all know where that leads.. Another fella was in the area pulled more than I and some morels but was cool to meet a fellow wild shroomer

I wish I took another pic of the pins around this one, I've never seen them with dark blue/black caps before at least in pin stage. (Not in this pic^^^, just slightly off the side.)

This'll be my first time planting a stem butt but should be good to go. Anybody have any information on planting these/ personal experience that has worked? If it's anything like planting a bush or tree I'll be fine, just not sure if it's any different.
