I wouldnt be discouraged, i got a ton of spots and only 2 of them have fruits/pins barely any mushrooms out right now let alone voids. When spring really gets rolling they are gonna be everywhere, it will be hard not to find them, tons of thicc myc from the mild winter and early spring. I noticed a lot of landscaping companies are not working right now so the mulchbeds are being allowed to decompose naturally, its gonna be one hell of a season boys.

God I'm stoked. Not discouraged. I'll still hunt everyday but a bit disappointed, hoped today was the day but I know it's literally right around the corner.

I don't know anyone who has found these in Central NY
Central NY is getting a little too far north

Is Only Game said: Went out Monday and searched around. Was in a few big non landlocked reservoirs with lots of flood plain and creeks feeding in/out. After 2 hours of not finding anything but sprouting trout lily and skunk cabbage I was pretty bummed lol. Stopped in one last flood plain with a ton of beech, birch, box elder trash everywhere and a few different conifers as well. Found these pins, but I'm not sure what they are. They were all pretty small even the more mature looking ones. But damn I was happy to see the first mushroom of spring!

These don't look like ovoids to me. They should have darker gills. Did they bruise blue? Wish you better luck next time!

Yup.
The black is from drying out then getting rained on, not from being old.

Hey, Was there last week but they shut it down b/c Too many people not enough social distancing... However I’m working right next-door and will probably sneak in for a quick lap one of these days. Hope all is well with you I think we got another week or so before the start. G

Those don't look right. They're all too small and the gills look white. The gills aren't wavy, the bruising is brown and the stems are a brownish color to start. Granted I've found ovoids with darker stems but usually the stems are bright white, gills are tan to purplish black. I dunno though. It's just what I see. What's the spore print look like?

Lots of pin action today!
Here's a comparison shot of the pins from last week. It took 9 days for them to mature to this point.
Last week 9 days later
Here's some of the other things we observed today

Good luck out there everyone. Next week it's on!

Anyone have a genus at least for this tickweed?
Only tickweed i know is Coreopsis, more often called tickseed. Never heard of it harbouring tick larva or nymphs.
Thx in advance.
