I have enoki growing everywhere around me. Or at least 6 trees I've found so far. Also tons of oyster mushrooms. About the only remnants left to hunt other than the emerging morels until ovoids start popping. Love mushrooms but ovoids are my top dog, numero uno, most favorite of all to hunt and find.

Galerina and Enoki growing and lack of Dryads means it's not warm enough yet. Those pins I found last week were from an early section of an early spot, so not really indicative of the actual season. This is usually how it goes tho. We almost always get some cool air that puts the season back on track for the most part. Honestly, I think the sun has a lot to do with things. No amount of warm air is going to change the inclination of the sun and how much energy the floodplains receive. Things will happen soon tho, for sure.

I was really wondering about the sun and whether or not they need a certain amount of daylight to bloom more than anything. Psilocybe are photosensitive to degree to my understanding so it's possible ovoids bloom based on daylight hours and maybe ground temps more than anything. If it was ground temps alone we should be seeing way more right now in places I think. It's hard to say because as you all know there is more information on the species in our conversations than found on google.

I think it has to do with the amount of leaves in the trees. Like there's just too much light right now, but soon the ovoids will have partial shade and they love that. While they will grow in open areas, they do way better in areas that are shaded. Even tall vegetation will do this, but most of the plants/trees need a certain amount of energy to really grow well and provide that shade. .... Speaking of growing plants. I'd like to remind peeps that the nettle is great for eating/tea and it's about perfect time to gather some while your out looking for early ovoids.

Temps have been good but the rain here has been lacking we need consitent rain and things will get going. This esrly season has been a tease for us here in PA.
Going to check one of my irrigated woodchip patches in southern pa, if they are popping anywhere it would be there

Wear high socks and long pants. Hiking boots are preferable to sneakers. If you don’t have permethrin, deep woods Off! (higher strength deet in green bottle) also helps. Spray yourself and your clothes and shoes.

Hey man glad to see you back for another season! Haven't seen morels around here yet but I've seen some indicators that the season will be starting soon, maybe even after the next rain

There's a grass in the Northeast called tick weed because ticks breed on it, it's common in Pennsylvania, Maryland New York areas and I'm sure it exists in others as well.

It is common along trails you will know it because you can see all the ticks get stuck to your shoes as you walk, you have to constantly brush them off as they try to climb up

That's what I'm talking about. Some thunder showers tonight. Hopefully that will bring out some early pins for me here or even better kick off the whole thing.

Looks like we're done for the season in nj. All county and state parks are closed. Beaches are closed. I can't hike. I can't even fish. Beaches are closed too.

Wow. Pa is locked down also. Luckily we can still go hiking but all parks for recreation are shut down. They did start trout season today in schedule though none the less. Luckily my spots are in the woods and not public parks. Ironically in my little town I only found 1 mulch bed at a business wither ovoids. I dont know where the townships get their mulch but it's not from a source of ovoid infested wood.
