Void gang 2020! I'll be getting out tommororow hopefully the floods didn't wash everything away. I have to hunt right next to the Cumberland which crested at its highest point since the 1977 floods a few weeks ago. I'm guessing it leveled everything and destroyed well established patches of myc. I might try some offshoots of smaller rivers/streams that branch off of it.

Those of us spending an inordinate amount of time staring at debris on flood planes in 2020 would do well to bring a trash bag, in order to:
- Do something good for nature
- Have plausible deniability
- Get some extra exercise
- Accomplish something even when we go home empty handed
I filled this whole bag in about 45 minutes today in one small area that I intend to watch this year. No super-early morels. No super-early ovoids. Oh well.

I used a garbage bag when harvesting in the city once it was in a highly populated area with security guards and constant foot traffic, picked up cigarette butts and when no one was looking got the voids

That's an excellent suggestion, I clean up as I hunt as well, flood plains can use the help. When I canoe I also clean up the log jams and I agree that not everything is trash. I have found plenty of stash boxes that were lost when someone dumped over their canoes.

I found two footballs and a whole lot of dog balls. I thought it was all trash but dogs might disagree.
Most of it was plastic bottles though. I guess they must float down streams and then get lodged in wood piles along with (hopefully) some spores!
I honestly do feel *much* less conspicuous squatting down to look at a pile of sticks/grass/mulch when I have a half-filled trash bag.
