The counties North & S.W. of me are finding black morels. I myself looked yesterday evening in a known spot but had NO luck.
This evening, I tried the debris pile where I found my 1 last year but didn't see much activity. Hoping with this past rain + the sun forcasted for the next few days will get them popping.

This is my first year hunting, I think we talked a bit a couple months ago on last year's thread.
I have a spot or two I've got hope for. One is a drainage "creek" that feeds into the Olentangy near OSU. Seems like it occasionally gets high water, and there are some wood debris stacked up all along it. Tons of celandine along the banks, too.
I may take a walk around the Scioto near Greenlawn at some point, too. Near the dam. It seems to flood pretty regularly.

Looks like some nice potential spots along that river. Only way to know for sure is to hunt like crazy.

Cool! I hope you find some. Haven't seen a report of wild ovoids being found around columbus for a couple of years so hopefully we are do. Seem rare but must be out there. More eyes looking the better. Hopefully they can start to become more common. I don't think I looked where you describe. I was more north of campus on the Olentangy.
Big Walnut creek, Alum Creek, and the Olentangy all feel like they have habitats where they could live. Damn celandine coats areas along the olentangy it seems more than the other rivers.

Found a handful more today. Anybody know how quickly these guys fully mature? I keep getting the old crust buckets. I frequent this spot fairly regularly, wonder if I'm just walking by them for a few days before I find them.

Then I cant wait to hear you report you found some. I'm 4 hours east of Pitt in the susquehanna valley. I've been checking my spot once a week. Do for a visit again although I have very little hope of actually finding anything.

The pins can fully mature in less than 24hrs but it depends how good the conditions are.
