This was just one spot that I was passing by, found these in less than a minute. I'm sure if I go hunt the plains I could get a decent haul tho

Yeah pretty much all year except when its frigid cold in middle of winter and if it gets bone dry during the summer. Irrigated patches will fruit all year except for the peak of winter tho. the closer you are to start of the Ohio river valley the longer the season is.

Had a good time today, found some ice voids and a bunch of pins still going at it. Looks like we will have some fresh fruits for the new year!

I am in the heart of the Ohio river valley and I have never found any before April the 20th, or none after the first of June ever! My spots are only a half mile from the river too. This is all too crazy.

Out of the 5 spots we checked all 5 had pins and mature fruits. Some are near rivers, some by streams, and a few inland nowhere near water. They look weird in winter, the turn brown, the gills turn blue, and they have that white coke like substance on the stripes like psilocybe weilii
If you live near here you shouldn't have trouble finding them around most rivers and streams this time of year

I'm not even close to you brother, I'm all the way hundreds of miles west of you. I think you guys over there have them all year round because of the Atlantic ocean being so close, and the conditions are totally different the further inland that you go.

My mind is already blown with these finds. But I have to ask, in the red circle on your map there's both the Ohio River watershed AND Chesapeake Bay watershed from Susquehanna and Potomac tributaries. Do you find fruits this time of year in those eastward-draining areas?

I believe I found the last two ovoids of the year. Don’t know if there a prize for that or not. Other than the surprise mild trip I put myself into yesterday upon finding them. Honestly, I wish I had waiting to pick them until today and then started the season 2021 thread. Haha. They were fruiting from under a massive Boulder in a known ovoid patch and looked all fucked up. I ate them soon after and then got the desired low dose effect for the next few hours. Definitely not typical. But the ryzomorphs and the smell were dead giveaways. Plenty of other mushrooms can look blue but I have not found anything the comes close to the smell. If anyone has a species in mind that does please share.
Hope you all had a great New Years. Can’t wait to start picking again.

Have you been able to print one of those ice shrooms and get a pick of blue gills? Their identity concerns me.

Ovoids that freeze turn black. Those aren’t ovoids.
