Lol

I get a little plastic cup and zero it out on the scale then just pour agar and lme into it.

That’s gonna be a trial and error experience nobody can really help you with if you’re going to eyeball it.

When I make mine it looks like a couple spoonfuls of each powder for 400 mls.

I'm buying supplies getting ready for my first agar attempt coming soon. I'm also trying to determine what the best way to make agar is. I think I want to go with a no pour first, but I'm just still conflicted.

I've been searching all day to find out what the optimal best mix is for making agar. There's all different types of ratios and amounts. I think I want to do no pour for my first time, but I'm not sure. How did you do yours your first time? And how do you make it currently?

P.S. My millet jars were a fail, I posted a thread about it... :frown:

The best method is pour agar. No pour is OK especially for starting but pouring agar is not hard, is best for clarity.

Look for premix agar. Just add to water and sterilize.

Maybe that is the way I should do it then with it being my very first attempt at agar? Or you think not?

Pouring is really easy.

Standard is 10g agar 10g lme to 500ml. Less lme makes it grow faster, less agar is better for spores. I usually go 8 agar to 7 lme in 400-500ml.

And is there a certain brand you recommend or like to buy of each?

Okay, so with my half cc left of B+ I should probably go with your ratio then?

You could also make brf paste and not worry about all this yet.

If you go with pour agar I would do 9g agar to 10g lme.

If no pour I would make a couple different mixes.

Idk about brands I just got whatever was cheap on amazon. I don’t know a ton about agar I just started with it a couple months back, but it’s way easier than it seems.

Don’t stress about it it’ll be fine. Especially with a syringe hydrated spores should germ easily.

Less agar is better for MS syringe because its softer and hydrates spores better? I read pasty saying that last night (few year old thread.)
