I found these mushrooms in my backyard, and I was wondering if you could help ID them for me. I'm not planning on eating these or anything, I'm just a curious mycologist! Sorry for the shitty pics, but my camera sucks.

-It is about 70-80 degrees and very humid here -I found these growing in dirt/mulch next to a big tree -The cap is light brown, dark brown in the middle, and very dark brown around the edges -The gills are extremely dark brown, maybe even black? -The stem is off white -The cap is 3.75 cm in diameter -The stem is 3.5 cm long
I have never made a spore print before. Do I have to be sterile even if I don't plan on keeping the mushroom?

They appear to be Coprinus micaceus... Not active. Not really worth eating either.

Two slices of balony and put the Inky Capped Coprinus shrooms in between the balony and no bread. Yummy

Meh... they're no morels or chanterelles.
Speaking of which... when do you think the chants will be up in GA, Mr. M?
