Hi Everyone,
https://imgur.com/a/Rp09CmR
I was inspired by all the first grow success stories here to give it a try myself. The above picture is the state after just 3 days in an unmodified monotub.
Brown rice with golden teacher spores spawn , coir + vermiculite substrate, unmodified monotub.
I have no idea what went wrong or what that even is, but it looks horrible. The spawn in the jars looked beautiful and completely white.
At first I thought it's cobweb, but it changed colour from white to greyish, to brownish and now orange in one day. It grew in about 1 day and a half to this state.
The watered coir was held at about 90 C or 194 F for about 2 hours in a heater.
Would be happy about opinions what might have gone wrong or what so rapidly infested the tub, so that maybe my next attempt could have more success!

This was the problem area. How did you get this done?

I followed Broke Boi Bulk Tek https://www.reddit.com/r/shrooms/comments/8e7g6n/how_to_grow_bulk_without_a_pc_or_brf_cakes_broke/
In my own words: I cooked brown rice, added a bit of vermiculite to the rice, filled it into several jars and pressure cooked each of them for 90 minutes on maximum pressure, elevated above the water level.
I inoculated the jars through a silicone port in a Still Air box after they cooled down with about 1 mililiter of spores each.
All the jars were fully white and colonized after 16 days, no sign of contamination.
That's when I prepped the coir and I used it the next day to mix it with the spawn in the monotub.

Don't use Reddit as a source.
-------------------- But if you're in a hurry, and really got to go If you're in a hurry, might have to find out slow That it's one thing to try and another to fly You get there quicker just a step at a time It's one thing to bark, another to bite The show ain't over till you pack up at night

It was the syringe. Spores are dirty. People use agar to clean them up. The spawn was white because some molds are white.

The spore syringe is from a sponsored supplier, who seemed to have good rep.
Would it not make sense to try again with this syringe or even this supplier? Sitting in the EU I don't think there are that many other suppliers I could try.

Edit the name out of your post, against the rules. Try the syringe again with agar, all spores are dirty.

My man, just try again with brf cakes to bulk.
Just make sure your prep work is totally clean.
BRF to bulk/Cakes as spawn : Post your BRF Bulk grows - Mushroom Cultivation - Shroomery Message Board https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=2&Number=24945782&fpart=&PHPSESSID=
Also read the basic brf pf tek, and flame your needle and all the basic sterilization techniques they explain.
Or even try just the pf tek and put cakes in a sgfc.
I dislike the jump right into agar frame of mind many just answer questions with "start with agar"
When your question was if you should try again, and yes try it again.
You will work it out and succeed.

You know how many people have come here and started with the pf tek with syringes they bought from vendors....?
Almost like everyone here. It works, just follow the instructions to the T.
When you mix your brown rice flour with verm and H20, and it seems a little dry? If you follow the instructions, it will be just right. Don't add more moisture on what you think it needs.
Follow the sterile procedures exactly as stated and trust the science behind it.
Get a few cakes under your grow belt and then research how to go bigger.
I am sorry but every response given to you here on your thread is unhelpful and self promoting, masturbation

It's just an updated 9er tek using brown rice as a spawn substitute for Bod's unmodified. It is possible for people to use more than one site.
