What the hell is going on with my grain bags?

So my grain bags are fully colonized but the mycelium does not look as white as other photos I have seen.. it looks like its weak or something.
could this mean it is dehydrated, not enough water? What do you guys think?
I also have a radiant oil heater in the room because without it, that room hits about 65F at night or lower and that would slow down the colonization significantly.
Could this be drying out my bags possibly? I keep the bags at the far side of the room , not too close to the heater.
The radiant oil heaters are not supposed to dry things out as much as other space heaters, but I am assuming it still does dry the room out to some degree.

either still recovering from a shake, or having trouble recovering because of bacteria. The slight wet spots indicate possible bacteria.
Maybe leave them a few days to see if they thicken up more before attempting to spawn.

no they are not contaminated. I had quite a few other bags like this that turned out just fine. its most likely something with the dryness or moisture levels. The wet spots are clear moisture , not discolored at all. Im going to put them into a tub.
It could possibly be low moisture levels due to drying the grain out for too long.
There is zero discoloration its all white and they smell fine.

So you prepped on the dry side and there’s standing water in the bags?.. sounds like bacteria to me. Just cause other bags “turned out fine” doesn’t mean they weren’t bacterial.

i suppose there could be bacteria in there. Only 1 way to find out! I had more than a few tubs with bags like this that all went to 3 flushes just fine
There is always slight moisture in the bags that is clear, is that not normal? its not a significant amount.
grain prep is definitely the most time consuming trickiest part of this whole process. Im still fairly new at it trying to dial everything in.
Nah there is no green in the bags.

Contamination denial. It happens to EVERYONE. The trick to getting over it is to put into perspective the amount of your own time you're wasting fucking around with contaminated grain spawn. It adds up to be a lot.

Right. But if the bacteria wasn’t there you’d get more weight off your 1st flush than you did from all 3...

yes there could be bacteria and slightly bacterial grains can still produce, just not as well and not likely to handle an expansion well. I don't really see an issue spawning questionable jars like those and tossing if they go south.
No slight moisture in your bag/jars is not normal, it's a sign of issues or wet prep(which often leads to issues)
Try drying them longer if they keep coming out like that.
I'm not seeing green either, but some people have better eyes than me.
On a forum note, don't be that guy who asks for input then says "no they aren't contaminated" when that's the response. If you knew for sure, you wouldn't be asking.
Good Luck.

I didnt think they were contaminated, but yea its a possibility for sure.
I think its more of a grain prep issue, Im trying to figure out what i am doing wrong or what I need to change.
but yea well see i dont mind trying to see if they still produce well or not.
How long are you drying your grain for? 1 hour? 2 hours? I believe these were dried for 1.5 - 2 hr

oats hold plenty of water on the inside, you want the exterior to look and feel pretty dry(minimal moisture left on a paper towel test).
More spread out grains are during drying, the faster they'll dry.
In winter i'll let them sit a full day in a strainer stirring occasionally just to make sure the exteriors are dry after hydrating. Summer's little easier since heat and direct sunlight will make quick work of it.
Just keep working on it and you'll find your sweet spot.

Any grain prep tips would be appreciated. I have ran the PC for oat prep about 10 times so far, still really new at this.
It seems bags are harder than jars but can fit much more in the PC.
Im drying oats for around 1.5 hrs, doing 2.5 hrs in the PC, wrapping the bags and bottom of PC in towels. Should I try drying longer?
I've also been told at higher altitude that the PC needs to be ran higher at 17-18 PSI. Is this true? Would I have to possibly PC it for more than 2.5 hrs as well?
I know baking and cooking in general at higher altitude is different and can take longer.

1.5hrs drying shouldn't be enough unless they're spread out thin in the sun. add more time and feel them.
running 17-20 psi for 2 hrs at 1 mile high seems to be plenty for me.
