Trouble deciding grow area
    #26467713 - 02/03/20 11:02 PM (3 years, 11 months ago)

So I currently have my SAB, and my WBS jars and BRF jars in my living room. It’s actually clean, and it has a bunch of plants on the other side of the room so hopefully it helps with the air. I cleaned the walls with Clorox wipes twice, and sprayed Lysol and then isopropyl alcohol dilution (overkill whatever,) in it. I really don’t want my grow in my living room, there’s heat vents in it and I don’t like the air to be moving that much.

I have read closets are bad grow rooms, but good for inoculation. I mean, if I keep the door cracked in my closet, and the RH/Temps are up to par, there shouldn’t be a problem right? I’m about to PC 7 WBS Quarts and want a good spot for them. I really don’t want to ask for opinions, but I feel this is important due to the air movement. I also feel people will tell me to not overthink though.

Do you have filters on your jars? If so you can put them anywhere, they'll be fine. No need to Clorox the walls.

Some folk do PF jars with open GE holes with just a layer of dry verm as a natural filter too.

To make you feel better, here are all my plates, they have 2 layers of micropore tape over holes that were put in them. They are in my closet in the room my giant dog and I hang out in all the time. I will have the closet open, to check them all the time with the fan on, and my heater blowing.

As long as your jars are in the right temp zone (if you're comfortable in a t-shirt) your myceleum is fine too. My area is 75 in the day, 65 at night from the heat off the light (2 T8 6500k bulbs), while I keep my room in the low 60s.

Your jars will keep the correct humidity if properly made regardless of the rooms RH.

Thanks for the reply. My BRF jars (some will be bulk as a test,) are the average 4 hole Verm layer and they were PCed. They’re sitting in the SAB. My WBS quarts are one hole with Micropore tape (one has two layers.) I’m going to do a mix of Micropore and some Polyfil this next run (WBS.)

My current WBS jars are in a clear tote without hole, upside down on a table but slightly over the edge of the table for a little air. I’m obviously new to this and am not confident yet, so I’m trying to make my environment as sterile and proper as possible.

I have cats and an infant/toddler but it’s pretty safe from them.

Any space you can light and keep warm will do. You usually don't need to get too crazy with sanitation. Closets work fine. I keep colonizing jars right next to fruiting tubs without problem.

I grew my first pound of cubensis in a moldy, leaky, old rv. Without owning a pressure cooker, using brf jars with open holes and a dry layer of verm like the post above me mentioned. If you keep the important parts of the process sterile you really don't gotta worry.
