Ready to harvest?
    #26466520 - 02/03/20 09:32 AM (4 years, 14 days ago)

First time, PES Amazonian. Do these look ready to go or should I wait longer?

Should I harvest everything at once or wait for the smaller ones?

Harvest the largest and spore print them before drying.

Congrats on your first harvest, beautiful shroomies.

I would probably wait a few more hours, knowing how fast they grow at this stage, so that 80-90% would have broken off the veals. If there are any big ones that look like they will let the spores loose soon, I would pick those off carefully with a knife without moving anything around.

But don't trust me on it, wait for someone more experienced to take a look at this.

Its kind of just preference at this point.. I would harvest the ones with broken veils if I could get to them without disturbing the ones catching up.. other than that I just try to get them before any spores drop .. personally, I would just let them go another few more hours..

Looks very nice

Excellent, thanks everyone! I am very pleased with the results.

I have a dehydrator ready after harvest. I am thinking of drying at 100-115 degrees. What's everyone's preference with temperature and how long can I expect for it to be cracker dry?

I would crank that thermostat as high as it goes..
I usually go 160 for 10-12 hrs...its probably overkill but they cant be too dry..

I've browsed probably 30+ threads on this forum and others regarding what dehydrating temperature starts to kill potency/Psilocybin. Honestly it seems all over the place.

It seems like the conservative estimates may be outdated now though? Can you crank it up to 150/160 without potency loss?

the faster they're dry the less time the psilocin/psilocybin is hanging out oxidizing. crank that thing.

Psilocybin has a very high melting point (300°+F) the dehydrator won't go anywhere close to that..
You can make tea in boiling water and have absolutely no noticable potency loss.. my dehydrator only has one setting 160-170°.. gets the job done..

High heat it is then

Can the cakes wait a few days in the SGFC before I dunk them again for a second flush? I'd like to dunk all of them at the same time if possible just to make things easier.
