I got "Strange Beautiful Music" when it came out, but it didn't strike me as anything new or fantastic, other than is phenomenal chops in the first place. "Engines of Creation" was super-dope. How does this compare with his older stuff? It always seems like him and Vai compete new albums with new techniques every few years, anything fantastically new this time around?
Satch is the shit, I saw G3 with Vai and John Petrucci in concert, and it was very long, and fuckin bad ass.

anything particularly new or amazing? not necessarily...there are a few licks in there that ive never heard before that blew me away.
Basically after as long as hes been in the biz, to produce albums of the continuing quality as he does amazes me.
Vai, i dont really like. He's too free for my tastes, although in G3 he is amazing.
I've seen satch 3 times, once in G3 with petrucci and vai (same tour), got to meet them too, all very nice.
Thats where i got my puppy signed:
I'll stop showing off that guitar someday.. :P
But, back to the CD,
I am very impressed, and thats the best i could say.

i liked strange beautiful music, but i have to agree that it wasnt anything too crazy.
This, on the other hand, i must say is something above and beyond.
