Musical recommendations
    #26465254 - 02/02/20 01:05 PM (4 years, 15 days ago)

Good evening.

For me, music is a very important part of my trip. It's THE perfect way to transition into visionland. In fact, I'd go as far as to say music is my favourite aspect of the trip.

That being said, I'm always on the hunt for them musical goodies.

I prefer music without lyrics (seems to resonate with me better than songs with lyrics), so things like classical, scores, instrumentals, that sort of thing.

I'm also hugely into a certain type of rock at the moment but as I'm a rock newbie, I've no idea what the genre is. I'll give you some examples and hopefully someone can educate me and provide similar recommendations:

Little Wing - Stevie Ray Vaughn. (I know of Hendrix's original, but I much prefer the style of Vaughn. It's a, maybe, more 'country/blues ish' sounding style than Hendrix, which I prefer. I also don't enjoy the 'flabby' echo/reverb sound from Hendrix's guitar.

Can't find my way home - Winwood/Clapton. I know essentially every version of this song and am somewhat familiar with other music by Clapton and Winwood.

Traffic - Dear Mr. Fantasy.

Tony Joe White - Who you gonna hoodoo now?

So yeah, music similar to the above and preferably with no lyrics (as with Little Wing) would be much appreciated if you guys can help.

As I mentioned above, classical/scores/instrumentals would be appreciated too.

An important caveat is the feel of the music. I'm after positivity, so no rage/sadness/melancholy etc. Unless it's super amazing of course.

I have a huge collection of music dedicated to tripping, so if anyone would like some recommendations from me then please ask (I used to run a music review website for scores).

Anyway, I look forward to your help and seeing what you beauties listen to.

If you don't care about the lyrics, you might enjoy 'Antikvariniai Kaspirovskio dantys'
https://open.spotify.com/artist/74slBKepw6pKNBtKDKZFxs

you won't understand a word, as it is in Lithuanian, but all their songs are heavily instrumental and have a very positive, dreamlike, childish vibes. They make my trip really enjoyable.

Would like to find similar bands in English too.

It's a little off the mark in terms of what I'm looking for right now, but I've saved I Venesuela and Mazule as they're right little jams. Cheers!

I'm not knocking your taste in music friend, it just isn't what I'm after for the psychedelic experience.

King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard

Naxatras

I've had some of the most amazing acid trips listening to these two

You know maybe you are right because that first band is kind of dark and so is Incubus if you think about it.  I dunno was just feeling it at the moment.  And it is personal preference.  Just saying there’s lot of variety and levels to the psychedelic experience.  But Incubus kind of fits in their with Franz Ferdinand to me.  Most music is easier to find dance more than tripped out stuff

I agree about the variety. My first trip I made a playlist of different things to see what resonated with me. I had stuff like Muse, RATM, Royal Blood, and a load of other random stuff. Whilst they were all very pleasant to experience, the music i mentioned in my original post really hit the spot for me.

Yes I saw Drake and then Muse in concert candy flipping in 2010, then ended the night with Deadmau5.  and I saw RATM during their reunion tour. Pretty cool and awesome shows.  A lot of other bands at the festival were good like MGMT and Weezer.  Saw Rage years before though and My Chemical Romance

I’ve dropped acid and just listened to Drake‘s album Thank Me Later and then listened to John Legend.  Maybe I was kind of still tripping during that

Just gonna throw this at ya, may open new horizons, may not.

Lisa Gerrard's works are pretty good. Her and Brendan Perry have done a lot of stuff in the band, Dead can Dance.
Her stuff be pretty emotional at times, what one would call "sad" is what another calls filled with life and emotion.
If I'm sad I ball my eyes out, if I'm not sad it is like hearing the voice of an angel and uplifting with joy.
She don't use words, her voice is an instrument and sounds out of this world and one of the the most sought after movie track composers.
There are many imitators but she is one of a kind.
I'm not a fan myself of actual lyrics and mainstream predictability. I like to let my mind do the interpretation. One night the same track could be a song about love another a song about the unknown mysteries of life.

My personal favorite to kick visuals into hyperspace. Subwoofer recommend :awesomenod:

You seem to be fond of the old school psychedelic rock so the claypool lennon deliruim may be right up your ally.

Some others that may peak interest.:justdontknow:

Hard to say but you might like Ozric Tentacles - occasional buried lyrics but you have to be pretty high to even begin to hear them as words. Shit goes deep.

Try Technicians of the Sacred if you're not familiar. :cookiemonster:

Idk how I didn't think about it but Joe Satriani has a pretty wild psychedelic rock sound.
