2 min animated video about having joy for other people's happiness.
This is something I have really been trying to practice for the past year or two, and it has had amazing results. It disempowers the ego, activates the heart and builds compassion, brings joy, and also completely takes the emphasis off of me, my problems and issues, my desires, my lack of fulfillment etc. When I'm thinking about others and revelling in their happiness, there's can be no problems in my world because that's not where my focus is. It brings a true joy and it also stops the suffering which is invariably caused by concentrating on me

Very good reminder! I have been practicing this myself a lot more recently, and it is amazing how something so simple can work so well, if we just remember to stop listening to the selfish ego.
I find it helpful, whenever I start feeling like whining about something I wanted for my own happiness but didn't get, to remind myself that nothing I've ever gotten for myself has ever brought me any lasting happiness. It's only the things I've done for others, or even the things I haven't done for others. Often it's enough just to watch someone else be happy to remind me that all I have to do is decide to do the same, and it doesn't require anything at all.

Very well said This is basically the crux of it, and I do this very thing myself as well.
We are running around trying to gain x, y and z for ourselves, but its like some insatiable hunger that can never be satisfied, although for some reason each time we think it will. As soon as we get whatever we are chasing, the satisfaction begins to wear off. The very act of receiving makes the happiness disappear. But when we are instead concerned with others, the act of giving creates more and more happiness, instead of consuming it.

it loosens the ego... it widens it,
thats the concept of joint families...
eastern concept of inner satisfaction
thats a concept of family ego, national ego, humanitarian ego
but the ego remains...
