    #26462777 - 01/31/20 08:11 PM (4 years, 16 days ago)

Found these in the yard. I live in costal South Texas it has been cold.. 50-70 the last couple of days and moisture has been high. They grow in clusters any idea what these are I am new to this just curious I tried identifying them thru photos but I don't even know where to start thank in advance.

Looks like something Clitocyboid. Hard to tell with those pics. Very interesting margin.

Any chance you took a spore print? Anything notable about the texture?

Clitocybe sp. is likely. Cap margin is brown from age/ weather, normal in many species.

I have them on paper I will post a pic tomorrow once they leave a print. Just curious I am new to this and I have just been walking around just enjoying finding different mushrooms is it okay to ask for IDs on non psychedelic mushrooms? I have lots of mushrooms that I have found today. Is there some guide or book or something that I can learn to id mushrooms on my own. Don't want to bother yall every time I find one.

Yes, please. The psychedelic ones aren’t terribly interesting after seeing thousands of pics and specimens. The ones that aren’t obvious are the ones that are fun to try to ID.

As far as a guide goes, I’m sure there’s one specific to your region. Those will most often get you to the genus but not always to the specific species. What will really help is checking Mushroom Observer or iNaturalist observations in your area. It’s just a matter of becoming familiar with features and appearance.

Wow I didn't know that iNatrural app existed.
Didn't realize so many people around me are actually going outside haha thanks for that recommendation. I am attaching a picture of the spore print let me know what y'all think. Also I read thru the many many rules I thought there was something on posting more than one I'd but I guess it mean more than one pic at a time correct me if I'm wrong.I am also attaching a photo of a mushroom I found yesterday i don't know how to I'd them but from what I see is it a type of russula let me know what y'all think. The first photo is the spore print from the previous shrooms the second white one is from the russula

inaturalist.org is a good site but do not trust the AI identification system it's still being trained and can/will  make mistakes but it is a great source to see what is around you.

The red russula species will need microscopy to determine the exact species.

Oh I didn't even know they had an AI identification. I was just looking thru photos of the things people found around my area interesting to see the diversity of wildlife stuff I haven't even seen before. I took a photo thru microscope at 15x what magnification is needed to identify spores?

when you click on their "suggest Identification" tab, it will drop down several suggestions of what the AI thinks it could be, the AI also learns from the identifications made by people.
